Leveraging their expertise in helmet liner development and their long-standing partnership with the U.S. Military, the EXFIL™ Tactical Bump Helmet is Team Wendy’s first complete solution for head protection in the tactical market.
Using technology largely developed under an Army Natick Soldier RD&E Center program, the EXFIL™ features a hybrid sling/polymer structure impact management system that offers improved multi-impact performance. The liner also allows for superior air flow and ventilation by creating standoff between the wearer’s head and the helmet shell. Made of durable TPU, the liner is resistant to wear and environmental extremes.
Designed with functionality in mind, the EXFIL™ is made of lightweight carbon fiber and is compatible with tactical communication headsets. Magpul MOE picatinny rails provide a wide range of attachment and positioning options, and webbing slots offer cable management. The EXFIL™ is compatible with most 3-hole NVG shrouds and mounting systems. A custom Wilcox shroud is offered as an add-on option. The helmet also comes equipped with Team Wendy’s newest retention system made with cam-lock sliders for easy and secure adjustment and a Boa® Closure System for optimized stability and fit.
The EXFIL Tactical Bump Helmet offers a host features and design innovations not found in any other system on the market. Their liner is a radical departure from traditional designs and provides one of the most comfortable setups on the market. The overall polymer sling conforms to the head and molds around electronic headsets. The hot-spots created by other liner designs when incorporating comms is practically eliminated. The standoffs created by the polymer discs are soft and breathable. All that can really be said is they are “comfortable.” To top it off, Team Wendy brought in the expertise of Boa Corp for their chinstrap system. Boa is well known in the sporting industry for making all sorts of cable closures for products like ski boots. Their patented micro aluminum cables help to create a very evenly-distributed closure around the head. There are no hotspots. It literally feels as if the helmet hugs your head.
The new liner and chin strap are also very compatible with the headsets. As mentioned above, the polymer sling conforms to the headset. But, the chin strap with the BOA cable system works great around the earcups. Tightening the system around the head set puts a gentle pressure around the cups that helps it to hug the head without creating individual hotspots. This is a huge advantage for many users.
The overall shell design incorporates some unique angles and surfaces. The Wilcox “W” Shroud is proprietary to the Team Wendy EXFIL and displays classic Wilcox design and engineering. Wilcox is working on a lanyard adapter for their excellent retractable lanyard system so it is compatible with the W Shroud. It should be available separately in the next couple months.
Team Wendy is planning on launching the EXFIL in hydro-dipped Multicam and other camo patterns around SHOT Show in January. Look for them on our website!
