can a savage 110 small shank action be turned into a 338 lapua?

I have a savage action I salvaged from my first deer rifle, the barrel is pretty much gone but the action still feels brand new. It has a 30-06 bolt face so I understand this would need to be changed as well as the barrel and the magazine and follower but I don't know if the action itself is big enough to handle the cartridge. I know that savage builds a savage 110 in 338 lapua I'm just not sure if they start with a standard 110 action or build a specialized one.. the other thing I'm wondering is if I cant build a 338 lapua, what about a 338 edge? Also if anyone has either or both cartridge why did you go with it and what do you think of it?

I dont think so,there is a thread on Savage Shooters about this, think the metal is of a different strength.

I called savage about this the other day, their 338 LM are built on the large shank, same as their WSM and RUM chamberings. I doing 338LM so I am not sure about the edge.
