I have talked with a few guys at our local range that shoot the F/TR class on a regular basis. I was told that I could shoot any caliber up to 308, but I also read the rules for F/TR and it states 223 and 308 only? So I am not sure what is right and what is not?

Your local club may have its own set of rules for their own matches that allow other calibers... but for NRA-sanctioned events, stick with what the 'real' rules read - .223 Rem & .308 Win.
Only a retard could read the rulebook and come up with the conclusion that those guys did.
...or its a local thing, where anybody shooting from a bipod is considered 'F/TR' and anyone shooting from a rest is considered 'F/Open'.
I'm not saying its right... but I can see how it might happen.
Some people build their 'tacticool' 6XCs or .260 Rem to beat the .308 shooters in tac matches... and then don't like it when they get thrown in the deep end with the dedicated 'belly benchrest' rigs in F/Open. They're used to being at the 'top' of the food chain... not the bottom.
Around here, matches are generally small enough that very often, we don't even end up splitting out F/O and F/TR (not enough shooters of any one flavor for separate classes); everybody just shoots as 'F-class'.

Well he did actually pick one. Read his post again he states "Well after doing some reading I am just going to shoot F/Open.
