155 Palma loads in 20" 308 loads

In my 24 inch Rock 11.25
Win brass
CCi 200/BR2
47 grains of iMR4895
.100 jump, more may be better
2943 with a ES/SD in single digits

BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL using my load, bad things may happen, and I only use 4895 in the spring winter fall, in the summer I won't shoot it.

Been a lot of discussion on the 155s of late. My favorite bullet, so....

44g - 47g R15
155g SMK
Win Primer and case

Work up for your rifle. The 155 NCCs do just as well. Also, my sticks are 1\10 at 20". No R15? A stiff load of BLC2 does wonders.

These lighter bullets like to scoot fast, in my experience.

The 155s shine when they're fired up to 2900-2950 fps and people generally get them up there with 26" and longer barrels. Google Palma matches, if you want to know more. If you can't get them up to that velocity, there might be better bullets out there for your consideration.

You can get them to 2880-2910 via 8208xbr and Winchester cases. 46.0 8208, Win case, Tula 7.62 got me to 2890 out of a 20" Rock barrel.

I am currently sending 155's at 2910 out of a 22" Benchmark barrel with 45.5 grains of 8208. In my opinion, that bullet and powder combo were made for each other, and it really changes the game with a 308...9.1 mils to 1k, 2.4 in a 10mph 3:00 wind at 1500ft DA.

Winchester or Lapua brass
155's
44.8-45.3 grain IMR 8208 XBR should net you something nice with CCI 200 primers if you work up to it.

I had a GA precision That love the 155 scenars But the 2156 155 smk Would not shoot. I posted a thread on here about it and some guys are telling me that you had to jump them a lot. Still got a couple of boxes of them never been opened

Thank you for the replies.

I got a chance to do some testing with them.

I tried a couple loads with IMR 4895 and accuracy was 1moa and velocity was in the 2600fps area. I then tried 44gr. Of Varget and got low 2900 fps and groups were 1/2moa. I might need to back the load down a touch though. I wasn't getting ejector marks but the bolt lift seemed slightly tighter then normal. I'm using Federal brass though so maybe some Lapua brass would give better results? Sierra manual list 44gr. as max but Hodgdon list it as a starting load.

Federal is really thick. That load would be fine in win brass.
