I am anticipating buying a new scope for my second 6.5 Creedmoor build. I bought a NF ATACR from Chris and Jay at SportOptics for my first Phoenix Custom Rifles build and flat out love the rifle and scope.

Now I am looking at a Swarovski Z5 5-25x52 with the ballistic turrets system and a 4W reticle for the second build. It retails for right at $1,700 -- a good $650 less than the ATACR retail.

But I see practically no talk at all about Swaros on this site. I know it can't be glass quality -- is it all about elevation. This scope is going on a 20MOA rail and will be used for target out to 600 and prairie dog-type shooting. I am not a hunter and don't have access to 1,000-yard shooting.

What is the rap on Swaros here? I mean, even the Z6 with a 30mm tube would be a viable choice though even more than an ATACR.

Just don't get the lack of talk here about Swaros.

I think the main reason they're not very popular in the tactical community is lack of mil adjustments and common ranging mil based reticles. If they offered a simple mil/mil even in SFP, I think they would catch on pretty quick because the glass is stellar. The other claim to fame with the Swaros is how amazingly light weight they are, such as the 5-25x52 coming in at a crazy 17 oz. The Z6i seems to be pretty popular with the 3gun competitors, as it should be. I've used a Z3 4-12 on my 300 Weatherby for moose hunting and it is a brilliant scope.

Swarovki is the most popular scope factury in Austria. They build high quallity hunting scopes, but as Crosshair said, they doesn´t build tactical scopes. About the lences, i can say, i have never looked thrue a better glass on bad weather conditions. i think, the z6 is one of the best scope, if you are not going to correct your elevate with "clicks"

I sold my $950 4-12x50 1" tube Swarovski to buy my first "Tactical" scope, a NF NXS 5.5-22x56 NPR2. I was so excited about getting that NF but then extremely disappointed when hunting season came around and trying to stay in the deer stand with it as late as I used to with my lower end Swarovski. I have now sold the NF and am getting a great deal from another hide member on a 5-25x56 Steiner because I want the best of both worlds in a hunting/tactical scope. Thanks Josh!

On the Swaro scopes with Ballistic Turrets, how precise and repeatable are the clicks?

I've had experience with a 3.8-18x44 & a 2.5-15x44 with the BT and they have always tracked great. I wish there was more adjustment as the BT allows you to only go 1 turn. Truely amazing scopes though as they are light and brilliantly clear. The 2.5-15 will give you more elevation adjustment as the clicks are in .36" I believe. I foam at the mouth for the day Swaro puts their 6x tech & light weight design in a 34mm tube with tactile fully adjustable turrets.
