Looking for the best bullets for .308 from 175gr to 210gr

I am currently doing load development for 178 Amax and 208 amax and have been shooting 175 smk's for years. I did some browsing and it doesn't look like Hornady has anything but the 178 hpbt that has a good bc. Berger has 185 vld's in three flavors but pricey, not sure about sierra other than their 195's. Anything else I should be looking at?


My purposes are competition and long range shooting and hunting secondary. 20" barrel AIAX in .308 pushing 208's at 2550 fps

I really like the 185 bergers, but they come at a hefty price. I just bought some 190 match kings to try out.

I mostly shoot the 175 SMK as well. I used to stick with the 168 AMAX and still like it. I have also played with 208& 178 AMAX, and 190 SMK with good results. It seems the 155 Lapua Scenar holds in with the heavier class from what I can tell but I have only shot 1 box of them. I've never shot it in the .308 but the 210 SMK has done great for me in the bigger 30cals. If the 208 AMAX works as well as it does maybe it would be a player. I am interested in the berger too but I haven't ever shot one out of a 308. My buddy shoots the 175 Berger from his 308 with great results. Very accurate with good ballistics.
