A while back I posted about if the cheap Fed. brass was good to reload. American Eagle etc.
Good input from all and I appreciate it. I find lots of this at the range, once fired from the "new" shooters that are out shooting their "new" guns that many had no idea how much fun they were.
Most don't have any idea as to reloading. "Your going to put new powder and bullets in there and shoot it again!!!" "What's a primer?"
Lots of new shooters around here. I am happy.
I reloaded 100 of these rds. and all went well. Worked up right and didn't need trimming.
The crimp on the primers was light or not there. I reamed them a bit with a RCBS tool and all were good to go. I didn't swage them Of the 100 only 2 had tight crimps.
These "new" shooters are a great source of new once fired brass. "Bless their hearts."
I did find 200 rds. of brass today head stamped MAL 5-82 5.56.
Malasia May 82 I would guess. I will give it a go. Boxer primed and looks good.

Federal/ATK took over the running of Lake City arsenal and there were some years in the mid-to late '00s where the brass was soft. Many of Federal's commercial products seem to use .mil brass as well, so there's a co-mingling of headstamps and things are all over the map.

If you can get 2, maybe 3, extra loadings on FC/LC brass, you're doing well.

I have some Malaysian .mil brass, but haven't prepped it.

Free brass is free!

I've gotten over a thousand pieces of RP green box from shooters leaving it behind, so I'm doing well there.

I do the same thing. We have US Border Patrol agents using the local range and sometimes they leave 5.56 scattered all over the place. I take it home, deprime and throw it in the tumbler for a while. I now have a large bucket that is quickly filling up with this brass.

Same here. I pick it up after the feddies roll through our range. I've had good luck reloading it in my bolt guns and FREE.99 is the right price.

I reloaded and shot 45/50 of the Fed brass. Save a few for the ride home.
All went well.
I went out today and didn't find any brass.!!!
There must have been an Old Fart that had them pick up their brass as only 2 rnds were on the ground.

Feeling dismal, I turned to throw away a snoose can in the trash can and there they were.!!!
200 -300 pieces of once fired all picked up and put in a beer box. All policed up and sitting there.
Was I happy? Hell yes.
I now have 2 guys wanting to learn how to reload.
I showed them how and told them to set up a place, both are doing well with components from grandpa.
I will stop by and give my suggestions as to how to make it best. Only my opinion and everyone know about that.
All in all, a really good day. Regards, FM

I have reloaded and shot a group of 20 rds. of this brass 4 times in my Savage Mod 12.
I will throw it now and work on the rest.
Two of those guys now have their benches up and are going.
End of the free brass, or at least it is slowed down. I gave them back the beer box so they can work some more.
Good to see the young guys learning. Regards, FM

I'll load any kind of brand for the fun shooting AR's when the neck split, I cut them down to make 300BLkout and get a few more reloads out of them too, then out to recycling plant.
