I just picked up my rifle from the gunsmith and noticed for the first time that at the rear of the bolt there is a loose "spacer" which moves around. It isn't loose when I close the bolt, but when I open the bolt, there it is (loose). I haven't fired it since I picked it up - I just never noticed it before and got me wondering why. The gunsmith only work on the rifle was to thread the barrel for a can. Is it that I just never noticed that "loose" spacer before?

I can post a picture later if need be.

If the spacer has a small ramp at the end of it, it is part of the bolt assembly. It sits between the bolt head and the receiver block and locks the floating bolt head in place against the lugs when the bolt is closed.
Took me a while to figure out when I first got my FLCP as it was rattling loose in the box. Take a look at the parts diagram that came with your rifle.

I think you're confused.
The spacer with a small ramp at the end of it doesn't fit between the bolt head and receiver. It fits between the bolt handle and receiver and as i said its only purpose is primary extraction. The thing behind the bolt head is called a baffle. It doesn't lock the floating bolt head in place, whatsoever. Its job is kind of to keep the lugs squared up as you lock the bolt into battery, but its primary job its to be a bolt stop. There are different lengths for different cartridges.

Appreciate the clarification on the use of the ramp on the rear baffle as I had it backwards. Obviously working from memory was not a good thing.
Will need to be a bit more careful in my grammar as well as I stated things poorly. :-(
