Gents,
I am building a rifle for my 70 year old father, I am looking for a "twisted fluted" heavy or medium contour SS barrel. Id like to spend no more than 300.00$ on the barrel.
He has commented on how he likes the look of the fluted twisting barrels, I know there is much debate on why this is done.
Has anyone shot any of these? I just dont want to end up w/ a turd.

Any suggestions on barrel makers that do this would be helpful,

Thank you

Barrels are fine, not going to happen for 300. Good barrel is 300-350. Spiral fluting is about the same iirc. Fitting chambering etc is again about 3-500. Better to go with a factory Rem varmint. Straight flutes. Good shooters. Budget builds=poor shooters more often than not. I suggest go factory or build it right.

This being semi auto forum- half those charges won't be there I'm guessing.
I can't remember what shops offer twisted fluting factory but they're out there. I'm guessing though the $300 budget will only be hit with a no-name barrel. I'd plan closer $400.

Check out Pro Precision Rifles. I just sent my rem700 bolt to Paul last week to get a bolt knob and fluting done. His website has ar-15 barrel fluting (if thats what youre looking for) for $195 and up
