8208 xbr!!

Works great in 223/223AI...better velocity and better accuracy than Varget in my ARs and bolt guns.

Also reportedly the "go-to" powder for 155s in a 308, and works good with 168/175s though velocity *might* lag Varget/RL15.

Better velocity than Varget? I had scratched this off my "Potential" list for 223 AI based on Hodgdon data showing it is substantially slower than Varget. What bullet weights are you using with these results?

223AI, 22" 1:7 twist, 0.061" freebore
80gr A-Max @ 2.465" COAL
Nosler brass, fireformed

25.8gr 8208XBR gave me 3000fps...but it was hell on the primer pockets of Nosler brass. I've settled on 24.8gr XBR in Nosler brass which gives me roughly 2900fps and is nice kinder to the brass.

With my 18" 1:8 AR, 24.5gr Varget gave me just under 2600fps with Nosler 77s while 23.5gr 8208XBR is 2660fps with a slight edge in accuracy.

This powder worked great in my old 18" 308. It had the 175 Sierra moving at 2625 trued velocity. I use it for my 5.56 loads as well with excellent results. Anyone in the GA area seen this available? I am desperate...

23.2 grains 8208 pushes a 80 grain SMK at 2962 from my 30" .223 1:6.5 twist barrel Remington 700.

44.2 grains pushes a Berger 155.5 FB at 3071 out of a 30" 1:12 twist Savage 12 FTR.

I could not get speeds like this from Varget in those rifles without some pressure signs. YMMV

Ive heard good things in the .308 up to the 155's, but above that its not an ideal powder and going to Varget or R15 up to the 175's is probably a better choice and something even slower like R17 above 175.
