So I have my eye on one. The price is right, however with some of the discussion of the earlier models having "illumination issues" I'm wondering if that's why it's priced the way it is? According to Leupold the "X" and "Y" serial #'s makes no difference. The unit is NIB, and from a decent retailer, just wondering if I should just "go for it" and not worry about the illumination.

I have one too. An "X" serial number. I sent it back for the "illumination issue," and the resolution: there is no issue. It is merely an unavoidable side effect of illuminating a FFP reticle. Once they explained it to me, and I realized it was just a matter of practicing bringing my gun up to my face, its never been an issue since.

I really enjoy it. Enough that I bought a Mark 6 3-18 for my SR-25 and am strongly considering a Mark 8 CQBSS.

Well that means, that all my "google search" time payed off, since it's a really good price! Thanks. I managed to snag a good deal on the Mark 6 IMS mount as well.

I noticed the same "effect" on the ones on display at the NRA show. I meant to ask them but didn't.
Not a deal breaker, I still like mine just fine but curious this doesn't happen on other FFP illuminated reptiles?

Well it's on the way, I have a question about the elevation turret, does it have a BDC for 7.62? or is the reticle used for the BDC/holdovers etc?
How hard/easy was it to "slip" the turrets once you had your zero? Thanks troops!
