Howdy. I have a few friends that are on here, so figured I'd join up.

A bit about me: I've been shooting for 9/10ths of my life, my father started me young and I have continued to this day. I've been hunting winged critters and big game longer than I can remember.

I have shot competition sporting clays and IDPA/USPSA for years now, and figured my next step should be into long range precision shooting. For years I've practiced with my hunting rifles out to 600yds or so, but never much beyond that. A couple of years ago I started shooting some precision rifles that friends own and catching the virus as fast as I can.

I shoot my magnums regularly, but figured it was about time for a proper 308 to get in more practice and have cheaper per round practice costs than my Magnum. So I picked up a R700 SPS Tactical in 308 a bit ago. I just today got it to how I want it for the time being (minus the suppressor which is waiting on the ATF right now). In the future, I'll have some action work done by a good gunsmith, but for not this thing shoots better than I can (pics follow).

I have 2 Bachelors and one Masters in Engineering, so drop, dope, all that makes perfect sense to me and I find it easy. Hell, I can even convert inch drop on trajectory to MIL adjustments in a reasonable precision in my head. But accounting for wind is something that will take me a BUNCH of work. Sure... I can keep clicking my scope until I hit in a hard wind, but I have almost zero chance of hitting on a first shot in a strong wind at this point. I hope to learn at least a bit of that from you all.

So, my finally "mostly" complete rig (no bashing, it's nice for me, but its no AX308 or GAP):

R700 SPS Tactical 308
AI AX Chassis
Harris Bi Pod
Nightforce 20MOA Steel Rail - Bedded
SPUHR Rings/Mount
Timney Trigger @ 1lbs
S&B PMII 5-25x56 w/ P4l Fein

Westminster now... But I've been all around the metro area throughout my life.

P.S. This post took two days to get approved in moderation.... How long do my posts have to be approved before I can speak directly? I spent the last two days scouring FAQs and sticks for the info, but I got nothin.

Welcome to the Hide. Great lookin' rifle you have there too! When you're ready to get that custom work done on your action, talk to Dave Sullivan at West Wind Rifles in Erie, CO. He built my .308 and it shoots better than my 6.5 Creedmoor which wasn't built by him. :(

From the looks of your rig, it looks like you frequent Mile High up in Frederick? I picked up my SAS suppressor from them recently and LOVE it....they're worth the wait. Which one are you waiting on? Again, welcome!

Oddly, only one part on there is from Mile High Shooting.

Waiting on a Reaper, the version that attached to the TOMB brake, not the direct thread. Gotta get this threaded, and put a tomb on this and my 300WM, which is already threaded.

I have the TOMB version of the Arbiter. Dave Sullivan threaded my .308 barrel and attached my brake. I'll be moving to Broomfield next month...waiting to close on the place by mid-July. Then all my rifles will be outta storage so I can shoot again!
