removing a barrel without action tool?

this is a one time deal for me. i'm removing a new barrel to send the action in to longrifle's group buy. I think I can replicate a barrel vice in my bench vice with 2 pieces of wood. what can I use without spending the money to get the barrel off?

Fantastic, been working with a 6.5 CM my self-Midway has had some HOR 6.5 Brass on sale as of late-may want to get some on sale, save a coupl $$$, if it doesn't shoot well for you, you'll be the only one! Really this CM round is accurate as hell, you'll go from pretty good (first load) to "damn I'm happy with that", in short order!!
