What is the heaviest contour you can go from a stock remington 700 BDL. I know sanding would have to take place. Thinking of getting an older 270 cal re-barreled.

VS guns used to come in walnut stocks so you should be able to do that contour. I would think you could do anything up to the diameter of the action but you won't have much forend left.
