Rifle Scopes M40A3 rings change. Any one know when the USMC changed ring height?

The pair of painted rings are USMC issued rings with Simrad cap. The other pair I bought from Badger. Anyone know know when or why the change happend? Notice the USMC marked rings are taller. The other pair is number 0022.

My guess would be after they changed from the unertl/USO to the schmidts, larger objective bell, pgw rail for nv, needed taller rings?

When we went to SB we went to 34mm. These are 30mm with 1" inserts.

That's very interesting scope mount. If I were to guess it would have to be because it went on the SASR. I know that they have higher rings than the a3/a5. TMA was there a box with the higher rings? Maybe try and find a part number and start the search from there.

What I'm thinking as well. I'd give Badger a quick call about it to double check your part/serial numbers. Part number 306-24 (M40A3) are only .886" high rings, and 306-39 (SASR) are 1.125" high.
