So I have had a number of spotting scopes from various manufacturers to include, Bushnell Elite HD 20-60x80mm, Vortex Razor HD 20-60x85mm, Leupold 12-40x60mm HD GR, Zeiss T65 15-45x65mm, Leupold MK4, and a few others. Well I decided to pick up a LMSS spotter from Bushnell and see how it performed against my go to Leupold 12-40x60mm HD GR spotter. I generally start with setting a USAF 1951 optics resolution chart and set it out about 100 yards away. I also try to do this test the first time at about 12-1 pm to create neutral light over head but also to because I spend a lot of time shooting through out the brightest and hottest parts of the day. I do realize the Leupold does not have the greatest glass but I truly thought Bushnell had their bases covered. For me the H-32 is well laid out as to not obscure the target with a reticle and allow observation in upper 2/3 of the FOV. To me resolution was about the same between the two spotters but the Bushnell exhibited some extreme Chromatic Aberration (much to what I saw with the first gen HDMR scopes, I had one of the first from George at GA Precision). It was extreme enough that all the surrounding foliage appeared to be glowing, even the rusty OD green painted trash can. I am wondering if anyone else is seeing this in theirs? I really thought after the go around with the replacement HDMR's that Bushnell would have this down. I do have pics and I will see if they came out enough to post.

These two are through the Leupold

I'm a bit of a Bushnell fanboy (1 Mile ARC 10X42 LRF binos & soon HDMR H-59 scope). A bit surprised at the color problem but when the magnification goes up problems are "magnified". (pun intended)

That said, I am SO happy that 25 years ago I bought a Leupold 12-40 X 60 spotting scope - for $450.! Not Ed glass but a damn good scope.
