I am debating on selling my Trijicon TA-31F and using the money for a low end variable (Leupold Mk4 1.5-5 maybe). My main complaints with the ACOG is the lack of eye relief and fixed 4 power. Other than that I really do like the optic. Its super bright, durable, and no batteries required. I would like to have the ability to use anywhere from 1-2 power on the low end and 6-8 on the top end. I really don't want to spend more than 900-1000 as most of that can be covered by selling the ACOG. Would you consider this a smart change? Is the ACOG build that much stronger than a sub $1000 optic? Would I be better off in terms of quality keeping the ACOG? What are some good scopes to consider?

The rifle will be used for hunting and shooting steel with most shots being 400 yards and less.

This is my current setup:

Thanks.

I got away from the acog years ago in favor of 1-4, 1-6 scopes. I dont know why everyone doesnt do it. The great thing about the acog is it doesnt require much training to use, but Id rather work a little harder, and get that added versatility.
