So over my last 6 months I have been working on my first bolt action build. I have posted photos of it in different stages but today was the first time I got it out and was able to see the fruits of my labors. Here is a little history of the build. Remington 700 sps tactical in 308 with a 1:10 twist. I bought a used B&C medalist. The barrel channel was originally for a varmint contour barrel so I had to sand out the channel to accommodate the thicker barrel. Later I finally got the courage to bed the action on my own. At the same time I ordered a Weaver 20 MOA base and bedded that as well. Next I put a Vortex Viper PST 4-16x50 in some Warne low steel rings to top it off.

I was only able to get out to 100 yards today, but plan on getting to the local range next weekend to verify some of the data I have printed up on the rounds I purchased. Today was a little over cast with a lite drizzle some where in the 70's with no wind. I was shooting the 168gr Hornady "Zombie max" which this weapon seems to like a lot. I cant find any 178 around town so I cant try them yet.

Overall I am very happy with the results. It is even more exciting considering this is my first bolt action and that I did all my own modifications. I know it can shoot a little better groups because I called the "flyer" in the above photo. (BTW give me a break, I forgot more paper targets so I had to cut this out from the center before it was peppered by the AR.)
