Hi, I would like to know if there is a adapter that will allow me to run an Atlas bipod on a hunting rifle with the stud that works on the Harris bipod? I can see removing the stud and installing a short picatinny rail, any options other that that? thanks Greg

I have a rail that attaches to the forend swivel stud so you don't have to modify anything on your stock. works well for my Atlas and Savage .260 Pred Hunter rig. It doesn't have a manuf. name on it. Can't remember where I got it. CRS! 6 slot rail w/ swivel stud on the rear so you don't use your sling attachment point. Check Brownells? RJN
I install one for my 6BR. I bought it together with an Atlas Bipod. I can't remember the brand. Let me look for it and let you know.
^^ This is BY FAR the best way to install a rail-mount bipod like the Atlas to a sporting rifle like what you have from the sounds of it. ^^
There are also similar products from Badger, Seekins, etc. that will give you the same basic setup (with nearly identical installation requirements).
Using one of the @#$% stud-to-rail adapters is really not a great idea as they are generally POS products that are bulky, add unwanted height/size to the bipod mount, and generally will create more problems that they solve. If you MUST use one of the adapters, for heaven's sake DO NOT buy the damned $32 Blackhawk one linked to above, but instead get the Weaver one (roughly 1/2 to 1/3 the price of the Blackhawk at only $11-15, but the EXACT SAME PRODUCT in Weaver packaging).
wow, thanks for all of the input. great ideas. I think I will go with this, one of the rifles is a APA .308 with a 90% carbon fiber stock. and several match ar uppers. thanks again for all the help.
Yeah, they're not really POS. They don't really add anymore height. They are rigid if the existing stud is. They do not work loose if installed properly. They do give you the swivel stud you'd loose using the accu-shot rail. They do serve a purpose in my case w/ the accustock that has an aluminum bedding chassis that runs up the forend and drilling an extra mounting hole could be risky.^^ This is BY FAR the best way to install a rail-mount bipod like the Atlas to a sporting rifle like what you have from the sounds of it. ^^

If you do opt to drill into your stock I would recommend the Badger w/ the push button swivel cup. RJN
