Hey guys,
Tought I would post this to make you drool a little.

I finaly got all the parts I need to do my first precision build.
It was a long process to get all this (almost a year) but it is finally going to the smith next week to get assembled.

here was my shopping list:

Barrel: Krieger m24 contour 11.25 twist .308 (still not shure what lenght I'll get it cut to)
Stock: Mcmillan A5 with all the bells and whissles
Action: Stiller Tack30 short action
Trigger: Timney
DBM: M5 with AI mags
Accessories: Badger thruster muzzle break, badger mini bolt knob and atlas bipod with quick release picatinny mount.

So this is it, let me know what you think.

I'm a LONG barrel fan....I'd go 26" and not look back. Certainly no shorter than 24".

Best of Luck and DO post a Range Report.

I'm still waiting on an action. Probably another month.

Agree as well on the other "tough" part...OPTICS. After much thought, several long sessions with a cigar and a glass of single malt....I ordered up a 5-25x56 MOAR, ATACR with NF rings.
I wrestled with "what to get" for weeks.

Thanks for your input.

Yeah I am still in the optics dilemma, I was thinking about a night force F1 or a premier light tractical but I still have not decided.

with 308 i'm a short barrel guy i say 18-20" and no longer, my AW is 20, my GAP10 is 20" probably will never go any longer. Great list of parts, with 308 i have hit at 1000 with my 20" consistently, i've watched guys hit with 18" as well. IMO the gained handiness is not worth sacrificing for the 50fps you may gain. If you want a long barrel 1000 plus yard gun build another later in 6.5 or 6mm flavor.

Well done.

Cut it to 20" is my vote.

...I would've said 18", but with the big stock and heavy contour not much point in going too short. It will never be a 'light' rig.

Optics: Nightforce F1 is the way to go. Hard to do better without spending a lot more. Add the NF rail to much the rings.

I am leaning thowards 22'', I think it would be a happy center between the 20'' portability and the increased velocity of a 26". That would put me just shy of 24" total with the thruster brake installed. Does anyone have pictures of a 22" barrel in an A5??
