Could someone that's used both types ammo elaborate on what's the difference between the two and at an accuracy standpoint as well.

I've shot the Federal Gold Medal Match from my AI and that stuff is a tack driver.

I've found a source online for both so like to hear comments and results between the two.

Here is my .02 cents. If you are getting good results with the FGMM ammo why would you change. I have shot both through my weapons and have found that Gold Medal shoots better in my guns by a significant margin. That being said I spoke to a friend who claims that all the bulk LC M118LR ammo for public consumption is rejected ammo that did not meet the requirements of the military. I do not know if this has any truth to it so take it with a grain of salt. Also I have read on other forums that reseating the bullet with your own seating die can improve accuracy on M118LR ammo, but have never tried it as it seemed bunk to me. Lake City LR brass is highly sought after because it is only re loadable match grade brass in 7.62 X 51.

eh....I've never heard anything like that, don't believe it's true. I fire a lot of 118lr and it shoots just same as the 118 I fired in the Corps.

I do agree with you though, if the OP is getting that good of groups with the Federal then why change? I've fired both ammo. I have a custom Rem700 that gets better results with 118 and I have another Rem700 SPS that gets better results with the Federal.

It all depends on what is working for you and your rifle.

I was only curious of the differences I'm not one to buy much factory loaded ammo but on the trade I made I picked up a box of FMM to test the rifles capabilities before we shook hands. I've purchased 200 pieces lapua brass and 500 LC brass to actually reload with. I thought about just buying a case to put away of one or the other just in case of hard times. The XM118LR was somewhat cheaper but not by much.
