Couple of questions here. I believe I've galled up a bolt lug and looking for info on a smith who can diagnose and could fix. I have not checked the receiver for damage. What are some possible fixes (lapping lugs, setting barrel back?) something simpler or far worse?

Rifle is a Rem 700 long action chambered in .300 win mag. Stainless receiver and barrel. I am happy with the factory barrel's performance so my desire is to have factory barrel set back if needed.

As to smiths, I've called a couple in SW MO, and I thought I would just ask for any recommendations here since I read a couple of posts from here on galled lugs. I prefer a recommendation from a someone who has had this same problem fixed, but really open to all recommendations. SW MO preferred, but I don't mind shipping.

Below is a picture. I chambered a tight round on a tree stand and did not check it. It wasn't aweful, but stiff. I chambered a second tight round that night on a tree stand. After cleaning that night, I found some brass shavings in the chamber and this bolt lug. If it happend before that, I did not catch it. I have not shot the rifle since. Any smith recommendations would be helpful.

Blessings,

BC

I did gall one a while back on a Rem 700 308. mine was galled a bit less than this I'd say.

I stoned the high bits off the lug, then worked the receiver/bolt with some lapping compound.

I had been running some fairly snug neck-sized ammo, and have since gone to full length resizing, and paying attention to keeping grease on the lugs. No problems since.
