Hello SH,

MY road to precision continues, I just got some projectiles I have been itching to try. I have IMR4064 pretty much all they have these days at the store close by anyway. I need help on the recipe since i want to waste as few of these as I have to. thanks guys!

Push them hard and fast, I would start at 44 grains and work up, the Fed brass concerns though, it's not known for longevity, so be mindful of the primer pockets, when I shot 155s Lapua brass lasted only 5 firings, Win was better at 6-7 firings, Fed May be 1-2 because it's so soft, pay attention to the force needed to seat primers, little to none, shit can it ASAP

Are your saying if there is little to no resistance? and why. sorry new to reloading so your knowledge and experience is helpful

With little to no resistance that means your primer pockets have grown due to pressure form being fired. It is time to scrap the brass. Just pay attention when you seat primers the 1st time and note the resistance. If using a hand primer it is way easier to feel.

When the primer pocket is toast you'll feel it.

Thanks I am using a hand primer and I have 2 batches off all the match cases I have shot in the past month some are Hornady and the other FGMM I have noticed the FGMM are easier But they do take some pressure... but that comment sorta scared me... so trying think if it was enough pressure .... these are only 1 fired cases though? be ok?

Same advise as you have been given. Start at 44.0 and work up. That being said, my personal load in my HS Precision HTR is lapua brass, federal 210 match primer, 44.5 gr IMR 4064, average velocity 2866 fps.

Don't fear the loose primer pockets, you'll know it when they're bad because you'll have to look at it to see if you actually just inserted a primer!

Even still, not really a problem so long as they don't fall out before the bolt closes on them.

In Lapua brass, using Varget, I can get 2975fps with 47.5gr. IMR4064 always runs between .5 and 1.5gr LESS than varget, so beginning at 44 and working up to ~46-47ish should do great.

Mind you, fast 155s are great for improving the 600+ yard performance of 308. If you have no need for that 600-1000 edge, there's no need to run them so hard. For example, my rifle also shoots them great at 45.5gr (varget), albeit at a much slower 2800fps.

IMR4064 is a great powder, by the way.

Thanks MAN! Feel much better. This gettin into relaoding my biggest fear is effing up and damaging myself and my gun. I have been using 155 amax for practice before I got my better more expensive rounds. I am looking for 600 plus for sure this is I am hoping to be my projectile for my first match later in the year.

If you're looking to compete past ~600 yards, you'll definitely want to squeeze whatever speed you can from the scenars, while achieving good accuracy of course...

The FC brass you're using now will work, but as mentioned already, it'll get beat up pretty quick. Try to score some Winchester. Their brass is harder/stronger, and actually thinner as well, which provides a bit more case capacity - which means more velocity for a given pressure.

That said, you'll have to retweak the load when you switch.

thanks man. Yea I cant decide between lapua brass or winchester I kinda want to do lapua rounds in lapua cases for max precision . and Yea I am hoping these puppies will scream on out there

Alright So, thanks to everyone for all the different ideas and opinions. I did get to take the 155 Scenar's out for the first day shooting today and was very very pleased. Wonderfully Windy day here in TN but needless to say any day shooting is better than any day working.
