Who is running what mags and are the AW mags "worth it"?

I am trying to get the details down for a new build and I'm debating if i should get my deviant setup for the AW mags or just stick with the tried and true AI mags. The deviant can come with the bottom setup/cut for AW/AI (guardian) or just AI (badger). I know the AW lets you load a bit longer, are easier to load, and have a shorter length but I've also heard about feeding issues and mag dumps in matches. I'd like some insight from you on this so I can nail down what I going to order.

Thanks

I went with the Guardian because that is what bug holes had in stock and I don't see any reason not to. The aics mags run great and I will be trying the ax aics mags when I get the new ax chassis.

The issue with that is that I heard of problems with the mag lips binding on the bolt flutes if you rest the rifle on the mag, since there is no metal on the front of the AW mag cut to keep the mag away from the bolt as with the AI only cut like a surgeon. Has anyone had this problem?

It's my understanding that non AI actions cut for AW mags tend to have some problems with feeding. I haven't had any first hand experience, but I'm sure Frank can fill you in. The GAPs I've owned that took AICS mags have been flawless.

My AW cut Deviant still runs better with AI mags so that's what I use. They fit better and tighter in the action with no wiggle or play. Just my experience so far with an action with the AW cut.

AW mags work good when they are set up properly. Longer COAL, cheaper than AI, shorter mag length out the bottom of the bottom metal. The AW mags like to sit higher than the AI, That way there is good contact between case head/ bolt head. If you are going to run AW then its probably gona be a good idea to stick with them. You can run AI also but because you set up your bottom metal to work well with AW, the AI can sometimes sit too high and the bolt can rub the feed lips, mags can be harder to seat into the bottom metal.

Bottom line, if your not prepared to mess with your bottom metal/mag catch, if needed to make the AW mag run then go with the AI and dont worry about it
