Gunsmithing Lapping Compound

Hello Gentleman,

I am wondering what you are using for lapping compound for lapping lugs? The stuff I am using now seems ok but I am wondering if there is something better?

Valve grinding compound from your local auto parts store.

I use Gesswein Diamond Compound, start with Blue and that is usually all it takes to bring the contact in spec.

I use 150 grit to do the dirty work and then 220 and even 320 to make it smooth and shiny. Don't think the 220 or 320 is necessary but it makes me feel warm and fuzzy when the lug seats are shiny!
