Bell and Carlson torque specs

Re: Bell and Carlson torque specs

If it's pillar bedded or aluminum bedding block you should be good with 45-65 in/lbs. The weak point will be the Remington bottom metal.

I run mine at 65 in/lbs, but if I crack it, it gives me a good reason to install the Williams bottom metal I have sitting here.

When I received my B&C stock they suggested less torque on the rear action screw. I don't recall the exact numbers but it was something like 60 In/Lbs on the front and 50 or so on the rear. I just torque mine to 65 in/lbs and love the results.

I wish my stock bottom metal would crack so I would have the necessary excuse to replace it, perhaps with a PTG DBM setup.

If your action is pillar bedded (either the "posts" or aluminum action block) then you have no stock material to crush and it will take a good amount of torque. Don't want the action moving in the stock under recoil.
