Hey guys I'm fairly new to the long range shooting world but looking to start a new long range project. I want a rifle capable of shooting 600-1000 yards consistently. I'm wide open for suggestions on caliber and brand. I would like to keep the rifle under 1500 dollars. Also the 6.5 creedmor really intrigues me. What can you guys tell me about that round? Never the less I'm open to any advice!

Thanks in advance!

You've got a lot of really good choices out there, IMHO, to achieve your goals. I've got a ton of respect for the 6.5mm projectile. I've got a custom rifle in .260 Improved that is extremely rewarding to shoot at the ranges you list.....shooting 140-142 grain 6.5mm bullets. There are several excellent rounds out there that offer use of the 6.5mm bullet. I'll also throw something out there.....look at the bigger 6mm bullets...105-108 grains...for the range you are talking about. I built a Savage in 6mm Dasher ( 6mm BR Improved...basically). This rifle cost me roughly the $1500 you mention you want to set as your maximum. It has the Savage dual port target action, custom stock, Krieger barrel. The Dasher has very low recoil and is a ton of fun to shoot. That little round has / or had set records at the distances you list. Below is a picture of that custom Savage.

Good Luck.....Take your time and try to study up on what guys recommend and you'll find a set up that will fit your needs,

I have 2 rifles in 260 Remington and love them both. Make life much easier at those ranges. 260 Rem and 6.5 Creedmore are ballistic twins. If you are reliant upon factory loaded ammo then the CM is probably the better choice. I handloand and have multiple rifles chambered in 308 based cases so that helps to simplify my loading.
