ive got a para p14 SF-45 that i bought years ago... it usually shot very well with my reloads.. not one thing has changed with the reloads and i started shooting 2-3 inch groups at 25 yards... after looking at the barrel, its almost a smooth bore... so its time to rebarrel... i dont need anything crazy, i was going to do a KART 1911 kit but no one has it in stock for a para... has anyone ever used a storm lake??? barsto???

im tempted to go with the storm lake with threaded barrel for a comp.....

alittle advice would go a long way... thank you

It's going to cost you to get it fitted either way so I'd get a regular kart or barsto. Don't fall for the drop in claims of some of these companies. I had a Wilson combat fitted on a Kimber and it shot amazing. The barrel was fairly cheap too.

I bought a used natn'l match pistol, and after me putting about 20K rounds through it, it needed a new barrel. The serial numbers and other cartouches on it indicated that the military turned it into a match pistol in the late 1950's, I bought it in the mid 70's, and shot the crap out of it for a very long time. Although there was a tiny crack in the dust cover you could find with penetrating oil, the rails were still REALLY tight.

"Boxes and boxes of bullets....." quote from get somebody but I got a great deal on a bull Barsto that I had turned down to run with an Osprey that shoots little holes. Take a look at them or sniff around for one. Good kit. That's a good one gimpy! Minor fitting was required along with a new bushing. Boredom is a terrible thing. Good luck and good shooting!

I was stationed in the Stumps when Barsto was still there. They put in a barrel for my Hi-power and 1911. The hi-power shot damn nice but ergos weren't for me. Still have the 1911 Irv put together for me and personally I do like their barrels. Never used Kart but imagine all the same. Definitely hand fitted is better but you need to know what you're doing.

I put a storm lake threaded barrel onto a Springfield TRP about a year ago for part time use with a suppressor. They advertise them as being close to drop in ready, however I did have perform some fitting in various areas. It is a tight fit and locks up very well, accuracy is great as it will shoot a ragged hole as long as you exercise some proper trigger discipline.

I looked into the Barsto, but my understanding is they are going to take a fair bit more work than even the Storm Lake did to get to fit properly so a gunsmith might be required.
