Hi, need some input.

I'm building an AR308. I have a Mega MATEN and a JP BCG, but am not happy with the loose fit. Lot's of clearance, about three times more than a Les Baer 556 BCG in a Mega AR-15 upper. Will an Armalite BCG fit tighter in the upper? Thanks.

Never heard of that.

Measure the inside dimensions of your upper and the outside dimensions of the BCG rails. Send that info to MEGA and JP to see if they are in spec.

No, I'm still waiting on my barrel. Do you have a MATEN?

Yes. I can measure the inside of the receiver tomorrow if you would like. I will also do the BCG.

I wouldn't worry about it. Once the bolt locks in on the barrel extension it won't budge. I have two MA-Tens, one with a Young and the other a JP BCG.

The JP BCG's will have a very constant size , the armalite will be the same. The 308 guns seem to have a bit more clearance, if they are too tight they bind. I take it you are checking this with the barrel installed and the CH installed in the upper? I have a JP here and MaTen here , SR-25 , LMT and Genesis. They are all about the same in terms of wiggle.

Is wiggle a spec to go by, can you tell me.

There should be about 15-20th of play if I recall . I might have a set of plans for an AR-10 upper and will check those for the diameter of the carrier bore.

That's what I wanted to hear. I was going to get an Armalite BCG hoping it was a little bigger for a tighter fit, but I guess the raceway is too big.

No, I wasn't checking with the barrel installed cuz I don't have it yet... just the BCG in the stripped upper. But you're right. The barrel extension would make a difference. Thanks for your input.
