What have you found thats made in the USA and top quality?

My latest find.....fingernail clippers of all things.

Nail clippings not flying all over the place is some great engineering but the thoughtfulness in making the fulcrum and the lever ergonomic was extra.

What else is out there to support?

Kestrel weather meters/ballistics tools......Made in USA.

Guessing some electronics come from OCONUS but the product gets a Made in USA tag for greater portion being made here.

As my first example shows - not limited to shooting gear. Just about any firearm worth a damn is made here.

I was totally expecting some sort of $50 hipster vanity price tag on those clippers. Pleasantly surprised when I clicked on the link (y)

    This place is great too....

I bought some of his US Flag stationary cards a while ago

Beautifully printed stationary from a company started by a WWII vet, now run by his son.

Great find. My toenails are talons and these look like thay have the torque to get the job done!

They are beefy - the clippers - I have no knowledge of your nails.

Reason I bought them was my chinese made clippers with the pointy lever "spun" will clipping a healthy nail and the lever came loose of the pin that holds it to the cutting fulcrum.

Never would cut my nails at home because I dont like nail pieces flying all over the place and I knew my wife would kill me if she found that shit all over the bathroom. Id wait till I got to work and get my hands into the bathroom deep sink after PT so they would be captured and washed down the deep sink.

Been looking at tripods. All made in China it seems. Or most anyway.

Doug at Cameraland turned me onto Field Optic Research and I called 'em up last week to talk tripods. While they do offer a few Chinese made models that they had contracted out, they started making their own here in US two years ago and they're every bit on par with RRS (and four miles away from them). Definitely worth a look, some of the quality is obvious.

Clip your nails immediately after a shower and they are much softer and will clip cleanly.
Do it in the shower and rinse them down. No mess left behind

Ordered the set. I've been looking for something like that for a while.

    Fingernails never rot.

Cleaned the bathroom sink trap once due to being slow draining.

Besides the hair there were clipped nails in the mess that came from the stopper valve works.....dry retch.

Ill let the clippings go down the work deep sink but not at home.

Gotta gets me one of those

Does Bose make their stuff stateside?

Unsure. They do have a big ass building just off the MA Pike in Framigham, MA.

All anyone will say about products such as theirs is "America can not make electronics." Its like we lack the gene or are physically/mentally incapable of beating Asians in the electronics game.

We invent all the shit that use electronics than others improve/build it - fucked up.

Not a tripod shooter but looks like decent gear. Hope they cut into the ChiCom market.

Pretty much everything Kifaru. Made in America, American Made Materials, Berry-Compliant (Except for stuff like T-shirts...) Best packs and shelters going...

Expensive, but you get what you pay for.

Yes. Gun stuff is taken for granted that we make good stuff.

Looking to come across other things.

Wool clothes, sunglasses, electronics - shooting or other, camp gear, house goods, etc.

    Alternatives to going to Walmart.

Americans can build electronics just fine. I've been part of it for a quarter-century, and there are many others who have been doing it much longer and much better. It's not like there are a row of workers with tweezers and soldering irons - most of the value is added through highly-automated processes such as this:

Bose imports most of their consumer stuff. Military and aviation product is supposedly still made in the US.

Fiestaware, made in Newell, WV. Best dinner ware that I've ever used. We've used it for decades and my wife has been selling it in her shop for 25 years. Looks good and near impossible to break.

we dominate in software. When Japan couldn’t get their Honda robot working right? Who did they call? Hewlett-Packard. Lol

That Berry Amendment comes in handy. I've been able buy socks and underwear, both boxers and t- shirts, made in the USA. Made from nice Polartech material, too. Very affordable. But it only comes in one color. 😁

Anyone in the USA make a quality stainless canteen set like this one:

    https://www.selfrelianceoutfitters....steel-canteen-cooking-set?variant=24814435073

I like the owner as he puts out some good educational youtube videos, but would rather buy US and not China.
The Berry Amendment is your friend ,too. You can find a complete cup and stove set at almost any Army Surplus store, with cover. You'll have to get a WW2 Canteen to get stainless, but they are readily available. Heck, even WW1. Apparently canteens last forever.

    Excellent point.

Our biggest weakness in software is an inability to graduate enough good SW engineers. Making matters worse is that the precious few we have are encouraged to go work on Silicon Valley or Wall Street bullshit instead of productive activity. A good realignment via dot-com crash 2.0 would fix the resource allocation problem, but would also provide disincentive to those considering entering the field. I don't know how to fix this problem, but I suspect that future wars will be won or lost by this skillset.

When I was in High School, a trade school circa 1982-1986, we had Packaging/Robotics as one of the trades offered.

It was not heavily chosen as a career major and the kids that took the option where thought of as weird.

Bet they are making some serious bank now.

Good point, I should see if there are any surplus store around my area.

If not, the stuff is everywhere online. You'll likely find it much less expensive then your original link. I'll wager that the 1965 dated canteen cup I pictured is of much higher quality.

anyone looking for high quality US made woodworking hand tools, Lie Nielsen in Warren Maine can help you out:

    Are they expensive? Yes.
Are they worth it? IMO, overwhelming Yes. Try crafting a piece of hardwood with a crappy Chinese tool... possible, yes, but the experience is terrible and the work required is long. A Lie Nielsen produces a better experience, easier work, and a most likely a better product.

Over time, I'm getting rid of all my Chinese tools in everything that Lie Nielsen makes.
