90 grain Sierra Matchkings and 24.5-25.0 grains of Varget or N140 work well. Expect 2800-2850fps from a Palma length barrel. EJ

    5.45x39 Precision Bolt Action

Anyone ever have a craving for a 5.45x39 "precision" bolt action rifle? The SSG 82 is the only offering available and they are in scarce supply. Prices have gone through the roof for a decent SSG. The SSG 82 is not without severe faults. The primary extraction is almost non-existant and the...

    Spotters Spotter 60/45

Yes, the Harpia is a completely different design and is not marketed as a military optic. To clarify my inference is that the Harpia is the next generation in optical design and improvement. The Harpia has better field of view, image quality and color correctness vs. the Spotter 45 or 60. EJ

    Spotters Spotter 60/45

If you do not need a reticle then consider the Zeiss Harpia 85mm or 95mm. The Harpia is a continuation of the Spotter 45/60. The Harpia has better resolution, color and field of view. Retail is $5000. Five year no fault warranty. EJ

The Venerable 308 vs "New gen" ubiquitous 6.5 Creedmoor LR - ELR Shootout

Back in the 90's it was common for us sling shooters to use 190's at in the 30Great. They worked well and bucked the wind better than 168's and 155's depending on the speed. Most are not using 200gr+ now but those that are immediately see the advantage.
