Here I am unwilling to pay more than $100 for a two hundred year old spider skillet because I regularly find them for $85. My latest pair are late 18th century and I got them both at $55.
It's a cast iron connecting arm or drag link from a piece of antique equipment. Hard to date but the nut is square, so that makes it no later than late victorian period in my mind. Probably from farm equipment or a small steam engine.
Did a bit of filming with her at the Capitol a couple weeks ago. She's definitely a go getter and quite principled. Looking forward to what her future has in store.
So here's an update. He's got a name now, Leupold von Ranke after the father of primary source based historical research, because the wife and I are both historians. He's finally tuckered now from being a lil shit.

I've used vinegar, hydrochloric acid, and electrolysis for restorations. Reseason with almond oil and a weed burner.
