@MDT_Josh have you ruled out using chopped tow or other discontinuous fibers? Maybe just for the outer layer? That should make forming...

Yes there were many. I could be wrong, but I think the most common is the "military" K98 (same as Czech 98, Yugo M98, Brno VZ24,etc.)...
