I bet it was a perfect hit at the perfect joint, I've never seen one fail like that, most I've seen fail have been battery life issues (where it will take months to run out of battery rather than years)
I have an ADL. It's the same thing as other 700s, just cheaper (and about as cheap as a blank receiver). If I were to start a 700 build, I'd just go down to Academy and pick one with the right bolt face and action length and call it good.

Have you compared them with any of the Steiner 8Xs? I looked through a friend's 8x30 from their military line and that's my love for binos now. That glass was very nice!
