    VCOG is nice and clear glass; the illumination can be 'seen' during the daytime but it's not RDS "daylight bright" like a Razor II or NF 1-8x super bright. You don't need it with the reticle, but if you are looking for bright daylight illum, the VCOG 1-8 doesn't have it.

    Quality / Durability won't be an issue with the NF SHV lineup; only real negative I've heard of that particular optic (SHV 4-14x50 F1) was short eye relief in comparison to others in that class. In the end I went with a NF 2.5-10x42 NXS when I was considering it.
