Would you get into 6.5 Grendel in 2024?

I'm not a super picky handloader, so I enjoy shooting and loading 6.5 Grendel. 13.9" barreled AR and 18" barreled AR-based bolt gun upper with suppressor. Nice nodes for both guns with 120gr Match Burners and TAC powder.

    308 vs 6 ARC & 6.5 Grendel

I currently shoot a POF Rogue 16" .308 (AR15 sized but shoots .308), 6.5 Grendel (18", 13.9") and 6mm Max (14.5"). The Rogue is light for a .308 and recoil is an issue if you're trying to spot your own shots at distance. I'd take it hunting for larger game but follow-up shots would be slower...

Would you get into 6.5 Grendel in 2024?

I built up a 6.5G bolt-action AR using one of the new BCA bolt action uppers combined with my Grendel bolt and Odinworks 18" barrel. Why? Great suppressor host -- quiet, no gas blowback, 22deg throw and positioning make bolt very easy to run quickly, AR ergonomics, AR parts compatibility, and...

    Surefire ICAR

Would loading bullets out that far work with standard SAAMI leades?

    6mm max

My SOLGW barrel shoots fantastic, so I won't be buying a CF barrel, but I'm sure someone out there will want one... It doesn't hurt that SOLGW will replace your barrel for free if you ever shoot it out. I just wish SOLGW would produce barrels more regularly.

    6mm ARC vs 6mm Max

After years of saying 6.5 Grendel polymer mags won't work due to AR15 magwell dimensions, Magpul has now decided it is in fact possible? Huh. I have a couple of the Amend 10-round polymer Grendel mags. They had to go to a single feed design to make everything fit into a 20-round 5.56 mag body.

    6mm ARC vs 6mm Max

The one thing that would solve any 6 ARC issues for me (as a long time Grendel shooter) would be bombproof magazines that don't cost $100+. I'm not a fan of just using 10 or 20 round mags that are *mostly* reliable. I really appreciate being able to run 6Max in my Six8 receiver and polymer mags...

    6mm ARC vs 6mm Max

For me, it's the ability to use the 5.56 bolt, reliable feeding out of readily available mags, and very efficient use of powder. My range is limited to 600 yards so there's that.

    6mm ARC vs 6mm Max

I've been shooting 6.5 Grendel (big brother to 6ARC) for decades and just got into 6Max. I'm a fan of 6Max and find it really matches my shooting needs out to 600 yards (max distance at my range). I've shot it with 90gr factory loads, 100gr and 103gr handloads. The 100s go 2600 out of a 14.5"...

6mm Max in a Six8 receiver set? Yes.

I would for sure if I had any M27 links... :)

6mm Max in a Six8 receiver set? Yes.

Yeah the round stacking is not perfect but it's certainly good enough to work.

6mm Max in a Six8 receiver set? Yes.

I'm happy the 6mm Max rounds fit well in the available Magpul polymer mags. It's a pretty compelling combination.

6mm Max in a Six8 receiver set? Yes.

You can get just the receiver set; they come in and out of stock pretty regularly. I got mine at GrabAGun last year.
