Centurion Arms MK12 barrels

Thanks. Debating on going with one of these vs going straight to a Krieger/Bartlein from CLE

Kreiger/Bartlein is more for extreme accuracy and competitive shooting.

Centurion is more of a "shooter". People claim sub moa on their CHF barrels though.

Someone will be along soon with a much more scientific explanation

I have one. I think these are made by the same manufacturer/processes as the original Mk12s, so Douglass blanks? I've been happy. I think they are a pretty good value for what you get.

Had an 18.5" Mk12 Centurion for a long time and while it wasn't as tight as some other barrels, it was by far the most consistent and repeatable despite heat, fouling/dirty.

Here's a control group I shot several years ago on a day we were testing SR25's for accuracy.

I currently have one of the 14.5" Centurion mk12 profile barrels in a gun and its of a similar pedigree. Though it does not really care much for Norma 77gr

Mine shoots half MOA or better with my handloads. It does like some fouling though. It shot the Federal loaded with the 73 Bergers really well also. I did have some excessive gas port erosion take place pretty quickly but it seems to have settled down some.

Monty and Corrie keep the barrel blank supplier to themselves. However, Monty was quoted in an article a few years back saying they were going to sell rifles that were 5r rifle cut.....which if THAT is what they're doing, might narrow it down to only a handful. These could possibly be Krieger blanks.

Does Krieger do CHF as well?

Here’s the 2019 article where Monty references a rifle cut barrel.

“…we’re doing 5R cut rifle barrels that are hand lapped…”

That was about the time I had them cut me a "recce" style on a 16" from a Bartlein. Very nice barrel. Not sure where they are at in doing that today if that's still a thing.

Sad update, had picked up one of their medium weight CHF barrels and was very anxious to try. Same A5/spring formula as my other guns for the gas port size but it is a short-strokin' MFer...

And that's why I won't buy Centurion (or Hodge) barrels. I'm sure they're excellent, but I prefer to run at slightly overgassed for the sake of reliability. If I was running a can, I'd revisit.

My Centurion MK12 barrel was purchased around the time we he first released them. I thought they were Douglas back then? Maybe I am misremembering. It's a shooter for sure and that's all that matters to me.
