The “woke virus” continues to spread in America.

The Boy Scouts of America has announced a major rebranding as it transitions to “Scouting America,” marking the first name change in its 114-year legacy.

The move is part of the organization’s bid to distance itself from its troubled past marred by a torrent of sexual abuse claims and subsequent bankruptcy while simultaneously embracing “inclusivity.”

The Gateway Pundit reported that the organization was nearly bankrupt after a series of woke decisions, including changing its policies to allow gay leaders and allowing girls to join. Those decisions had a major impact on the organization’s bottom line.

This change is yet another surrender to the ongoing “woke” agenda permeating longstanding American institutions. This is another surrender to political correctness, prioritizing superficial inclusivity over the core values that once made the Boy Scouts an iconic organization.

For over a century, the Boy Scouts of America has stood as a pillar of traditional American values, providing millions of young boys with formative experiences focused on leadership, self-reliance, and camaraderie.

In its press release, Scouting America stated that the change will take effect on February 8, 2025, coinciding with the organization’s 115th anniversary.

“The Boy Scouts of America will rebrand to Scouting America, reflecting the organization’s ongoing commitment to welcome every youth and family in America to experience the benefits of Scouting,” the organization said.

President and CEO Roger A. Krone claimed, “Though our name will be new, our mission remains unchanged: we are committed to teaching young people to be Prepared. For Life. This will be a simple but very important evolution as we seek to ensure that everyone feels welcome in Scouting.”

The name change is meant to reflect the organization’s supposed commitment to inclusivity following decisions in recent years to allow openly gay members and leaders and welcome girls into the ranks.

AP reported:

The organization steeped in tradition has made seismic changes after decades of turmoil, from finally allowing gay youth to welcoming girls throughout its ranks. With an eye on increasing flagging membership numbers, the Irving, Texas-based organization announced the name change Tuesday at its annual meeting in Florida.
“In the next 100 years we want any youth in America to feel very, very welcome to come into our programs,” Roger Krone, who took over last fall as president and chief executive officer, said in an interview before the announcement.
The organization began allowing gay youth in 2013 and ended a blanket ban on gay adult leaders in 2015. In 2017, it made the historic announcement that girls would be accepted as Cub Scouts as of 2018 and into the flagship Boy Scout program — renamed Scouts BSA — in 2019.
There were nearly 1,000 young women in the inaugural class of female Eagle Scouts in 2021, including Selby Chipman. The all-girls troop she was a founding member of in her hometown of Oak Ridge, North Carolina, has grown from five girls to nearly 50, and she thinks the name change will encourage even more girls to realize they can join.
“Girls were like: ‘You can join Boy Scouts of America?’” said Chipman, now a 20-year-old college student and assistant scoutmaster of her troop.
Within days of the announcement that girls would be allowed, Bob Brady went to work. A father of two girls and a proud Eagle Scout himself, the New Jersey attorney eagerly formed an all-girls troop. At their first weekend gathering with other troops, the boys were happy to have the girls involved but some adult leaders seemed concerned, he recalled. Their worries seemed to melt away as soon as the girls led a traditional cheer around the campfire.

The very name “Boy Scouts of America” carried a timeless and specific message, one that emphasized the unique journey of boys learning to become responsible men. The removal of the word “Boy” in favor of a more neutral moniker is unnecessary and eroding concession to modern pressures.

This was pre-ordained in the 1990's when they let the faggots in.

Infiltrated and dismantled from within. By faggots who wanted to cornhole boys... and in the process destroy an great American (and British Empire) organization for the promotion of manly stuff.

Faggots intentionally destroyed the scouts. Like everything else they touch. Because the cornholers are not about faggotry... they are about communism. And Boy Scouts and Eagle Scouts and all the other Baden Powell organizations are about being great citizens...

Well, the worm will turn...

Used to donate through work to the united way until they specifically denied BSA any funds over the gay shit. That was right after the local UW administrator was using funds for limos and whores. Go figure

Surprised it took this long. I was a kid when the pedo thing came to be. Our scout leader was a worthless pot head who raised 2 addict kids that are in prison now.

Really glad my Dad had common sense standards like "no, there's a reason only 12 kids are doing that. If their parents knew what I arrested him for there's no way they'd be there either".

Surprised it took this long. They already stunk from the decomposing stench of their dead values. This is just the coroner issuing their death certificate.

This. The BSA used to be one of the organizations CHAMPIONING riflecraft and marksmanship and was actually under the umbrella of the NRA for much of the early 20th century. Both organizations trace their roots back to Union veterans of the Civil War who aimed to keep the way of the rifle alive and founded these clubs as a school to train a new generation of US marksmen to compete against the world top sharpshooters of England, Ireland, and Germany in the epic international long range matches of the late 19th century.

Was it in the late 1990s or early 2000s when the Boy Scouts dropped firearms entirely from their curriculum?

Basic training in the 1980's... in the first few seconds of formation... "Who was a Boy Scout?" "Who was an Eagle Scout?" those who stepped forward were basic leaders right off the bat.

Now all faggotry and cornholing.

Commies and faggots did this on purpose just like they become priests to get access to alter boys.

I was a scout as a kid and considered getting my boys into scouts in the 90s. In first visit it was obvious the troop was controlled by libs. Hard pass. My boys are hunters, shooters and excellent marksmen without scouts.
I actually learned to shoot with peep sights in Scouts and earned a Merit Badge in Marksmanship.
That merit badge is no longer offered and was dropped from Boy Scouts.

Calling people Queer! and knowing how to shoot is a bad combination according to the woke.

It's sad because when I was a boy scout, our leaders were military vets. The scoutmaster was a pilot and our assistant scoutmaster was a US Army Ranger. He brought in his instructor to teach us how to live off the land. "To eat things that would make a billy goat puke."

Our scoutmaster was also a 5th degree black belt in Kenpo Karate and taught us scouts for free. We were taught how to ignore the discomforts of the elements.

We learned how to shoot shotguns. In fact, in spite of being left-handed (I carry my 9 on my left hip,) I learned to shoot long guns right handed. The shottie he was using was a semi-auto. So, to avoid ding from an errant shell, I put it on my right.

To this day, I shoot my rifles right-handed with right-handed action. And I use the scope with my right eye. Turns out that is a good thing. My recent eye exam turned up the beginnings of a cataract in my left eye.

Our assistant scoutmaster also taught us parade drill with wooden mock rifles. Turns, about-face, march.

That stuck with me. Many years later, I was in the Dallas County Courthouse to see the prosecution of a person who had murdered two friends of mine. Back then, I smoked cigarettes and you could smoke in the stairwells. So, the court adjourned for lunch. I was in the stairwell smoking a cig and pacing some steps. Heel and toe about face, more steps. Another guy in there having a cig asked if I had been in the Marines.

"Not quite. Boy Scouts."
Back when it meant something.

Right on. All my Scout Masters were military or former military. Thats where I learned to cuss. One of them carried a Colt Woodsman on his hip all through summer camp.

All the RO's on the range were military and comported themselves as such and expected the same out of the Scouts. "...You will now get up and march smartly out to retrieve your targets!" They would yank a rifle out of a kids hand and snarl at him if he fuc't up. You didn't fuck up.

We had a mess hall that served the best French toast at breakfast @ 0700. Everything was on military time and structure. They raised and lowered Old Glory on a flagpole in front of the mess hall and played taps at dusk. As a feral twelve year old in '66, I loved it all.

Eagled in 2007. By 2003 all my buddies and I told our parents we wanted to start our own new troop because they other ones were full of pussies. After that, it was fun again.

There are already organizations that have formed ( mostly Christian) due to the decline of the Boy Scouts over the past 30 years that mimic the values held by the Scouts in the 50’s,60’s and 70’s ……… These newly formed organizations formed due to the ever increasing bullshit of the spineless leadership of the original Scouts 🤯🤬🤬…… I have found and purchased several copies of the Boy Scout manual from 1965. ( year of my birth) I have given those copies to my grandchildren just so they will have a reference for the politically drivin change of a corrupt government and a point of reference (primer) for what it mean to be a decent citizen 👍🇺🇸

This all pisses me off because I kinda wish I had joined the scouts as a youngster. The kids that were scouts while all nice kids, as I recall they were a little on the nerdy side. And it just made me think Boy Scouts maybe wasn't for me. After growing up I realized how many scouts ended up doing well and turning out to be genuinely solid men. And now they've fucked this shit up and I won't let pedo's have access to my family. I have no problem teaching them everything I know, but it doesn't have the same feel as what I imagine the 60's and 70's Boy Scouts was like.

Fucking commie trash ruins everything.

Like so many others here I was a cub scout, a webelo, and then a boy scout......way the hell back in biblical times it seems as it was about 1/2 century ago.
It meant something then and I learned things that are still with me.....least of which is "be prepared" and always carry at least a pocket knife and something to start a fire with.

I have a feeling if one were to look deep enough there would be some random link to the NRA as they were both very good organizations back then and both went to shit at about the same time.
Nowadays you couldn't hold a gun to my head and get me to say a single nice thing about either of them.

Just another good thing that has been fucked over by the bleeding heart liberal mentality bullshit that has invaded 'murica.

Scouting has been circling the toilet bowl for a while but hearing this still hurts. I believe that I am going to light a fire the old fashioned way (with white gasoline and a bic lighter) and BBQ the shit out of something to bring this chapter to a close.

I interviewed for a senior position in the BSA about 20 years ago. I am a disruptor. The BOD liked what I had to say ( they were and still are on paper and have a ton of legacy spend and a shitty branding still ), but in the final round they picked a straphanger and did nothing.

There are still good pockets in the BSA, but the leadership sucks.

They need a complete restart from the top down.

The Mormons said enough and took 40% of the scouts with them not too long ago.

I was a scout, though dropped out before Eagle. I was asst. troop leader and there was a camp out being planned. It was being scheduled for the same weekend as a planned family deer hunting trip. The scout master said I needed to get my priorities straight. I never went back.

We tried cub scouts for our first son. What a fucking waste of time. Zero leadership. Zero organization. Zero learning. But, we curb stomped the pine wood derby, in a tank.

Not long after, I looked at my wife and said, “I can teach him all of this, in less time, with less heartburn.” And with that, I didn’t have to take him to Cub Scout meetings anymore.

@Oldloser showing my ignorance here, what's a straphanger?

Way, way back in the day, I was involved with the Cub Scouts. Never made it any further.
But, since this old thread has been reopened, the allowance of letting girls participate in the boy only world of scouting, I believe, is the reason we are in the pickle we are in today. Meaning, boys/men playing in girl/female sports. This, I feel, is when we fell down the old rabbit hole.
Some of you might disagree, and some might agree. Mac

We fell before then.....what you mentioned, is just another branch we hit on the way down!

Boy Scout back in the late fifties, had two more merit badges to go for Eagle Scout but had a girlfriend down the street and discovered “pu**y” and never turned back..👀 did go to Philmont in New Mexico and that was filled with adventure! Happened to see Sputnik on that trip too. Sad to see the Boy Scouts of America in this state of failure. Thankfully I have nothing but good memories. 👍

It's much deeper than that. The girls is just a symptom.

1. The BSA became a soft organization run by trust fund babies who never did anything hard and who have never trained young men to become hard by opening the door to a world of earned achievement.

2. The BSA has not embraced leadership to keep the BSA at its core focused on scouting. This means picking men who can lead, streamlining operations, and controlling costs through capital investment. It means selling off the urban core campgrounds and building new ones elsewhere while working with large landowners to lease facilities. This means freeing leadership to work directly with the scout leaders on the ground. The fucking paper is the worst and it's a symptom.

3. The infection of BSA ranks with pedophiles. And the failure to track them and keep them out. See #2.

4. Keeping Scouting's core mission relevant in today's world. And adjusting programs to deal with the continuing urbanization. While protecting them from liberal views.

My experience with scouting (Cub), was from '65 to '67(yeah, I'm old!). My dad was involved in it during that time frame also.
Like with everything else, it takes money and time. We had Den Mothers back then, and most of them did it voluntarily. Things were different back then. It wasn't the big $$ cost like it is of today. So, like everything else, corners are cut. Whether programs, or leaders. Positions need filled and when they do, leaders (so called) aren't vetted thoroughly. That's how bad people end up in organizations they should not be in to prey on others.
Just look at what's happening in .gov today. Like with all things good, let it go on long enough, it will be corrupted/contaminated. Everyone suffers, especially the young and weak.
Then something good and wholesome, turns to sh#t! Glad I'm as old as I am, because I'm in charge of my own destiny, not someone else.
