Wednesday & Thursday Prior to the Event Weekend

Sniper's Hide Training @ Black Bear Prior to the Maj Land Cup. We will conduct 2 days of precision rifle training at the Black Bear facility in Gladstone VA. We will look at 2 days of Fundamentals and Tripod / Alternate Position as well as the Kraft Quick Wind.

This course is not a beginners course as we will require you have data for your rifle prior to attending. Please have data to at least 1000 yards to be effective in this class. They do not have a full Known Distance Course so any data will have to be trued using alternate means.

Gear List should be all equipment needed to shoot a Precision Rifle Competition.

    Precision Rifle 6mm to 33x
Scopes capable of 1000 yard adjustment and a minimum of 10x
    Rear Bag
    Bipod
    Front Rest Bag
    Tripod
    Laser Range Finder
    Data Management
    Pack and Ammo

We will cap students at 20 given the nature of the competition

    Sent an email
I'm not seeing how to select black bear when doing the payment....
Wanted to make sure there is still an opening.
Thanks and looking forward to this one
I just did the 2 day class payment, and sent an email to let him know what it was for. I wanted to make sure I reserved a spot.

Tempting me, not sure I can swing this and Ohio…
doubt you'll have a bad class at either...
Think someone mentioned having fun with movers at the Ohio class.
Black bear is the highest angle & distance collection I've heard of on the east cost though.
For me it's really wanting to see that specific range as well as get a fresh list of what I'm screwing up at the same time lol

I think several of the same group were going to Ohio that went to Mifflin so frank should be able to set aside some time for whatever yall wanted vs being stuck on day one setup forever

They had these all-terrain movers at the match last year. Only used for pistol targets but they were fun.
Shown here hiding around the corner from the stage. Pretty fast and programed for number of hits & zone to stop them.

Honestly if you took Mifflin even Ohio in the past Black Bear will be unique to both venues, but as noted the mover in Ohio makes that different

I can’t guarantee a mover or access at Black Bear, but for sure we have the distance and angles, so if you want to bring two rifles by all means bring both and we’ll push em as far as they will let us

Have fun, Tommy. I’m heading to OH this year for a number of reasons all of which I bugged the shit out of @Lowlight with in PMs. Hey, I did apologize afterward. lol

    Can’t go wrong either way.

Since I’m already in OH I might detour to Thunder Valley after but also have a quail/deer hunt in GA later in Oct so…maybe just come home.

Look forward to your report on BB.

    Cheers

    Calling me Tommy?...
I'm Derrick, niks bar mate from the first Mifflin class.

I'm sure frank will have more time to "lay there and talk about it" at Mifflin ;) lol

Yea I don't think it's a bad choice to be had there.
I'm guessing they will have more time at the normal KD ranges like Mifflin and Ohio to really sort things out and work on us a little better as well vs BB being more of an event specific thing....

Sounds like you've got some nice plans worked out for the year already!

Look forward to your report on BB
I'm looking forward to spending some time at this one so I'll take pics / videos / notes and try to show it off a little for sure.
Wonder if I'm allowed to run my drone there.... could get some nice video on it I bet.

If I knew someone else who didn't mind coming in last I think id try the whole match, but I hate to hold someone else back lol
    Cheers to you too!
Hope you keeping GB straight as well

I saw a video of this and those look like fun!

I don't even want to know what that thing costs though lol

Only bad thing I've seen about this range is that it's further than I want to drive each day, but finding lodging in any close proximity seems hit / miss

If anyone put together a group staying somewhere specific feel free to shoot me a message/ thanks

The cool part, I have Chris coming so like I said, if you want to come, get a nice 2 day train up, stop in, even last minute.

I’ll start the day at 9 AM cuz some may need to drive in, but we’ll stay til whenever as we are just at the bottom of the hill.

We set, look forward to seeing ya there.

    Yo Baby!!

How have you been? I hope you have a complete blast. Shoot them slow and smooth. Miss drinking with you

Great class (as always). Shot with Gant, Derrick, and Jamie. As always fundamentals were checked, and then it was a “let’s do this”, and was very relaxed and informative. We covered a lot of positional shooting. Wind was changing constantly, and had some 14 mph gusts, but worked with a lot of 10-12mph switchy winds. We shot most targets 600-1000, but ended today at 1900 yards. You guys really missed out on this class. We were able to shoot military movers, meaning they change direction and fall on impact. I shot about 225 rounds over 2 days. And Jamie and I took advantage of an amazing stew, cornbread and brownies Laura made tonight. Can’t wait to do it again next year.

    Thank you Frank and Laura
