Anyone ever swapped from Area 419 to RRS?

I hate the way this thing feels in my hand, and I think RRS has a cleaner/stronger solution to prevent slippage of a bipod. I was hoping to just bolt the new rail into the existing tee nuts, but it looks like RRS uses 1/4”-20 hardware and the Area 419 hardware is 10-32, which is quickly mentioned in one of their install videos.

I was also considering a shorter rail (RRS 240mm) to free up some space in front of the magwell so it’s even more comfortable to carry on a hunt. This isn’t a gamer gun and I’ve never had my bipod that far back. I guess I’ll have to find my old shorter action screw, as well, if this arcalock is coming off.

Kinda rambling post, but has anyone else made a similar swap? Any considerations I’m missing?

If the RRS uses bigger hardware and therfore has a bigger hole in the rail, couldn't you just find a properly sized washer and use the smaller hardware?

Yes, potentially. I should just order the parts to see if it would work. My concern is the Area 419 screws being too short due to a washer, or the heads sticking out past the bottom of the rail since they’re different than the flat head screws the RRS rail uses.

If you remove your barreled action from the stock you should be able to see how many threads are going through the T nut on the inside of the stock. I just swapped an 8" rail for a 12" rail (area 419) and the screws had plenty of threads engaged for a washer to still work.

This is assuming the holes in RRS are counter sunk close to the same as the area 419.

I hated the ArcaLock system enough that once I got the rail in hand, I never even installed it. I use R-Lock on everything now and my Ckye pod has the RRS SC-ARC clamp on it.
It’s worked fine for me, but once R-lock or whatever it’s called came out, Arcalock seems silly and I hate the way it feels.
