Looking at Tbac but wondering if anything stacks up to them. Thinking dominus or ultra 7,or 9.
Going on an accuracy international at-x barrels from 16”-24”.
Most things are out of stock at mile high so how often do they get stock items?

    Hi,
    Yes it is. https://thunderbeastarms.com/availability

From our current line, and for an AI, I'd recommend looking at the Magnus-S or Magnus. We still make the Ultra 9 but it is kind of eclipsed by the 9" Magnus. The Ultra 7 is a better fit for lighter hunting rifles, assuming most people shooting an AI don't care about a few ounces here or there.

I think most modern cans using direct thread or some kind of taper mount are going to be pretty good. My Rex MG7K with Plan A seems to tighten up groups with factory ammo. Of course, if you’re reloading you can adjust to your setup. It would be very interesting to see some sort of empirical test on accuracy using multiple cans and multiple barrels—not sure how you’d set it up in a way that would be scientifically and statistically accurate.

If you get a magnus can you order the rr capability later or is it welded to the front?

    What is "carbon welded"?
It’s possible to shoot your suppressor so much the carbon build up from the ammo will harden and lock up threads. Suppressor manufacturers try hard to mitigate this by having tapers or some other feature on the muzzle device so the blowback gas/carbon/unburnt powder doesn’t form on threads causing lock up.

I have had equal repeatability and precision from my TBAC cans, as well as my Otter Creek Labs cans, and my Dead Air cans.

I vote TBAC for precision cans. In general the bigger the can the better it suppresses. I’ve run their Ultra 9 for many years and love it. Also run the TBAC 22 takedown and just picked up a 338 Ultra SR

Also without modification the ATX will run a 18” barrel. Anything shorter flirts with the brake/can contacting the fore end

Just get a Thunder Beast. Best suppressors. Best company too. This is more important in my opinion, TBAC takes care of their customers. You won't be disappointed.

Mile High gets a lot of them and probably gets them first. MHSA is good folks too. There has been a run recently because of the fast approvals. I am sure they have lots on order from from Zak & the TBAC family.

It is not welded because you have to be able to time it.

But you have to order the Magnus models either with the normal end, or the RR end. Cannot be changed later or bought separately. See the other thread for discussion why.

TBAC has been the gold standard in this arena for a while now, their focus has always been primarily on precision rifles.

Abel Co is a newer contender for precision rifle based suppressors, and they build precision suppressors with incredibly low runout. The quality of Abel cans are impressive.

Those two come to mind first when the primary goal is precision. Though there are many suppressors that will work in this application - and as some have pointed out, the mounting system you use is another factor worth your consideration.

otter creek labs is excellent and reasonably priced. I have a few tbacs.. they're fine. but ocl makes a competitive model that honestly does the exact same thing for half the price. I'm going to try and get a 6mm version though.
fwiw I have direct thread and brake mounted options but over time I am graduating to the direct thread.. subject to change next month.. glad I have both tbh.

    Hi,

Generally we make specific calibers when we make a prototype and it meters better than the next caliber-size up when shooting the smaller caliber. That's why we no longer make a dedicated .223 Ultra 7; the 6.5mm version meters the same as a dedicated .223-bore version on 223. This is fairly cartridge and baffle-design specific.

I've already got plenty of 30 cal precision cans and 2 tbacs ultra 9s so I'm done buying unless someone makes a recoil mitigating 6mm bore all titanium direct thread. Just me though. seems like everyone in prs and long range comps I go to all shoot 6mm with maybe 1 guy shooting a quarterbore.
