If a 1 year old heifer can’t raise a calf on her own, she needs to go to the ring…

Ok, twins might be ish if it. She gets a pass, this year…
Twins can be a blessing or a curse.
If she don't claim one or don't have enough milk
But then I hate barn chores (bottle calf)
I've even had trouble with older cows, if they have one calf beside em they are happy and won't look for the other calf.
I've had to find the calf, twice a day, and take it to the cow to suck until it gets old enough to go find mom when it gets hungry
A good cow will keep track of both and if you get that maternal in a first calf heifer you know you got the makin's of a good cow.

The Veryovkina Cave, approximately 2212 meters deep, is the deepest cave in the world.

In all the years that I was a "ranch kid" we never had twins. I don't remember dad ever mentioning twins since. He only keeps around 30-40 head now, and he's got 35 calves on the ground.

We had a nice mare but in the end, she only gave us twins. In horses, twins, if they survive, never amount to anything. Her’s never survived. One breeder offered to let us rebreed that mare to his stud again. Like what would that accomplish? His daughter made it right to his disgust, which he made me well aware. Wound up loaning her to another breeder’s who’s mare died. Then sold her. She was a pretty thing, never really made it in the show ring, nor as a brood mare.

Comes and goes, no rhyme or reason
Last year I had two sets, year before none.
Neighbor with 600 or so cows had 13 sets last year!

Aw, he’s just a big sweetie. Just like this cuddly dinosaur

That was from a few years ago.
Taken at Buffalo Creek Golf course, just north of Bradenton, FL.

Probably a solid 13' big boy.

15'? Not much of a chance being that big.

Here's a pic of a group from three years ago. The two largest, both female, were 10'-4" and 10'-7".

They are impressive, even the “Civilian” version. I was still with the Department when CDF (now CalFire) transitioned from the Cessna Skymaster to the OV-10 for Air Attack C&C.

OV-10, it was a big improvement in that the OV-10 could get from one side of the Ranger Unit to the other in less than Half of the time.

Don't forget the other one, Bird dog.

My wife and I helped put up flags at our local county park this morning for Flag Day. The 'Avenue of Flags' is hosted by our local VFW and each flag is for a past veteran. There are over 1,000 flags, one is for my dad, and one is for her dad.

We put up a new flag pole at our house yesterday. The old pole was getting a bit worn.
