Got a call from my friend R Thursday to tell me our friend B, had taken his life. He had suffered from physical and mental issues for many years. Last year he was struggling and self-admitted to a mental health clinic. Came out feeling good, got on a health kick and lost over 50 pounds. R said he had picked up a new comp gun and they shot a match last Saturday and all seemed well.

I have a difficult time comprehending. I’ve said before I don’t think I’m smart enough to have mental issues and I certainly can’t fathom what B was going through.

Although we were separated by hundreds of miles and rarely saw each other over the past four years, I miss my friend.

I’m sorry man. That’s rough. Someone checking out at such a low point is a tragedy.

That sucks…. Sorry for your loss. Being former military, I have lost more friends by their own hand than I can explain. My only advise to you or anyone else is, call your buddies as often as you can. You would be surprised what a simple phone call or text can accomplish. Prayers for him, his family and friends.
