Christmas gift discussion thread

Gristle trigger arrived safely in England this week via three different friends. Many thanks indeed, very generous gesture. Much appreciated
Dang, I had no idea that it was going all the way out to England! Did you have to do anything with customs and/or ITAR? If there's no ITAR restrictions, I would have just mailed it directly out there to you. I'm glad that you finally have it, 4 months of waiting is a long time! What rifle are you going to use it in? Pics of your build with the trigger would be awesome! I hope you like the trigger!

Thanks Ryan. The trigger is superb.

There are no restrictions here in the UK, but I have had real problems getting anything from the states because the USPS tell people they can't post firearms parts (even sling swivels I have been told) and then the cost of shipping from the US is crazy.
So I had it sent to someone in the US, a friend here shoots High-power in the US, so had it taken to where he was staying, then brought it back along with two of the recent release Smear stocks bought from on here and a wooden M40 stock, along with some small parts.

No import duty, no tax, no international shipping.

The UK is surprisingly relaxed about importing firearm parts, and it is straightforward (sometimes we get hammered for duty/tax)

Likewise, people often think we can't have firearms, we can, just not pistols or semi auto rifles except 22lr.

We have have bolt guns, we have straightpull AR15 conversions, M14's, L1A1's, Garands, just all straightpull.

We can get suppressors without any issues, and they are hopefully soon to come off licence so we can just walk into a gunshot and buy as many as we want. We have no Magazine restrictions at all.

So, all in all, things are as good as they could be and better than some places.

The trigger will go in one of the smear stocks. I am just gathering all the parts. Will have barrels made locally. Scopes are the next acquisition hopefully.

Anyone who builds an amazing Tier-One rifle around a set of scope rings is my kind of guy...

I once restored a Rolls-Royce after buying its serial-numbered rubber hammer (from the toolkit) on eBay. Found the car and bought it and rebuilt it....

Because I bought a rubber hammer.

Basket case to an amazing car. Because I bought a rubber hammer off of eBay.

Cheers,

Sirhr

That's an amazing clone build, thank you for sharing it with us! Let's of rare parts there, definitely a very high-end build!!! That scope is amazing, and those scope rings are absolutely perfect for it!

Where did you get the Mod 5 chassis? I don't know if people realize it, but I had about 60+ Mod 5 chassis that I sold a few years ago! That puts me at well over 200 Mk13 Mod 0/3/5 kits in total that I've sold since 2017, which is much more than all the dealers COMBINED who were selling Mod 5 chassis kits a few years ago! Pretty amazing for not having a website or any social media. I know that all of the Mod 0/3 stocks originally came from me, but I'm always wondering if the Mod 5 chassis I see posted online were ones that I sold. I love seeing these builds, I've made a lot of friends by helping people with their Mk13 builds over the years.

Very nice build and thank you very much for the update! Please post a range report when you go shoot it! Anyone else do any builds with the parts that I gave out for Christmas?

That kit came from someone here on the hide, who i am pretty sure got it from you. I guess he didnt have time or motivation to build it and passed it on.

and yes, its a high end build. Got lucky on the Scope.... its definitely unique and saw real service. only thing i dont have to make this thing 100% authentic would the suppressor. i decided to use a Tac Ops can on this barrel thats finished at 23.5" in barrel length.

should make for a sweet shooting hammer.

Late to the partay as usual. I am finishing up my m70ish project(or I think anyway). I have started looking around for parts to build an M40 clone around those rings and base from @USMCSGT0331

Got a few dollars tucked back for it, so hopefully can snag all the parts as I find them. Sadly(lol) I will have to build a whole gun from scratch.
