You can't be trigger happy without keeping your finger on the trigger. How else can you swiss cheese entire neighborhoods, hit bystanders, and fellow leos (with impunity)?
Stress, adrenaline, poor training and being met with unexpected force can do some funky things to the thought process.

Don't ever put a TQ over a cargo pocket. The contents in pocket WILL shift around and TQ will be ineffective.

The shooter was skipping rounds under the police cruiser. If they moved, even straight back from the cruiser, they were still vulnerable to ric's. If they broke and limped down the side of the house they left themselves open.

I agree. But you have to ask why they parked in such a stupid spot. In the open, no other cover, no readily available escape route.

In their defense, when you roll up on an armed subject in a house, you have only seconds to pick your defensive positions, none of which are ideal.

No it's def not. I saw a little blood, however I'm sure they are trained to throw TQ on any amount of blood.
Truly you cannot tell sometimes if an artery or large vein was hit, because sometimes the blood doesn't just pour out of a wound.

Average pay for the deputies in Blount county is over $65 K. Which is probably well over the average income for that county.
So many mistakes. Not just of training, but of common sense. They're just lucky that guy couldn't shoot and didn't want to kill anyone.

Nothing like staying on the X and letting the enemy continue to toss lead at you. It appears that TQ training night didn’t happen either. I mean, if you’re going to stand with your right leg well out from behind cover might as well learn the quick way to apply a TQ
