Been looking for a decent used LA chassisfor the 7 PRC I'm expecting shortly. Not much luck, a ton of SA's but few LA's. I was wondering why?

I'm thinking that most of us start with a lighter caliber ad work our way up to a larger caliber. By the time we get there we've made the mistakes and learned what we want so end up keeping it longer rather than a quicker turn over.

Far and away the vast majority of PRS/NRL rifles will be short actions. Like 99.99%+. So that is why.

Also I think a lot of people start with a big long action magnum and then realize it’s generally unnecessary and work their way down in caliber to short action.

Anyone building guns or chassis will sell 20 to 1 short actions versus long actions so that is where their money is spent on inventory.

Ditto for anyone designing and machining chassis. Lot of time and $ toward something with way less turnover.

I know PRS gets a lot of mentions, but I think it makes up a pretty small % of shooters here and in the precision rifle community. Most people are not active PRS shooters.

I just think most people are shooting short action cartridges much more frequently than LA ones. It's much more economical, less recoil, more barrel life, and due to the ranges we typically shoot at. Magnums/LAs just aren't necessary for the vast majority of shooting that we do.

Yep
I had planned a .300 NM for earlier this year, but since the 2k range (Jtac ) closed end of last year and all that's available is under 1k, no need for it anymore. Plenty of short/mid choices that'll be cheaper to shoot at that range.
