Here we go as the first L3I reloading product. New cutters are meant to be used with the cheap Lyman express and use the Lyman collets that come with it. It cuts to length, chamfers the outside and inside at the same time.
Comes with a pilot and carbine blade. Not a bad option if you have a Lyman or you want to speed up your trimming process cheaply.

Is the pilot necessary on the cutter head if the trimmer still uses the shoulder pilots?
Technically no but there's a worry you could lead it on at an angle and it would catch. For the minimal cost we thought a pilot would make it easier. Plus it makes it easier to see what the cutter heads is setup for lol

Working on how to post a.video lol. This shows the finished cut from the tri cutter vs the original cutter that comes with it.

Looks like the tri-cutter needs to be adjusted so there's more chamfer on the inside rather than the outside. Is that possible?
I agree and will prob adjust it but there is definitely a smooth inner chamfer, I just want it to be a tad bigger. I just seated a couple rounds to make sure the 109s slide in nice and easy . It's adjustable like a Henderson and this was me eyeballing it. I might have to use the feeler gauges to see what the perfect distance for my 6mm is.

I see there are different caliber cutter heads. Is the only difference the pilot? I have pilots from a manual Lyman trimmer. Can I use those?

If it’s all the same cutter head, I’ll order one.

The cutters are all the same but the pilots are different. I honestly don't know what pilots of other brands will work. We made our own so we could offer them pretty cheap.

Unofficially I have a RCBS pilot in the one I'm using right now but I have no idea what that equates to across different brands lol

How do you get the silver guard off of the Case Trim Express in order to change the head? Mine is threaded and keyed with a pin (interrupting the threads) into the motor assembly. The pin looks like it'll be a bear to remove.

having that trimmer does take some getting used to for making square cuts (personal experience). once figured out it work great for a less than $150 electric trimmer. it'd be nice if there were inserts for specific cartridges instead of datum compatibility (not 100% true). still not so bad of a trimmer.

So if I understand you correctly, I don't need to remove the guard. Therefore, I just need to keep turning the adjustment dial until the cutter head comes off?
Turning the dial will actually spin the guard off. Then the cutter will be exposed and it takes an allen key to remove the cutter for the new one
