Hey enthusiasts, Basics of this event listed below (more to follow via your ideas and input)
***Updated 08/31/24***. There has been a date change!!!

Event: USMC M40 shoot with fund raiser to benefit the USMC Scout Sniper Association, Recon Sniper foundation, and American Sniper Association. Each of these great foundations has given to my platoons in support and many others over the years time to give back. (hopefully turn this into an annual event)

Dates: Date change, Nov. 15/16 Friday/ Saturday 9 am till completion, sorry for the change but my work schedule has changed and I will not be able to make the original date.

Mission: Gather enthusiast with various reproduction M40s to have a structured range day (gather data) and have a 60- 75 round match to see who’s M40 is top dog! Trophy will be given. Raise funds for the SSA. Vendors and swap meet are welcome being that I’m sure there are plenty of parts people have that they want to trade or sell.

Friday Oct. 4th- will be zero day and data collection day, I will help shooters with zeroing especially those with Unertl optics. Data collection on steel out to 600.

Saturday Oct. 5th- Match day we will shoot 8-10 stages of fire that I will outline soon, that cover sniper related skills with some challenge stages/ targets. Afterwards will have some food and do a swap meet, fun’s hoot on the pistol/ carbine range. No gun sales or transfers on property, must be conducted lawfully. Gear and equipment is all fair game.

Restrictions: This is a private 600 yard range and I have neighbors so all rounds will need to impact into the berms, the vintage rifles are not true to the distances marked on the turrets, so this will not be a free for all shoot, I will control the line on the long range. Just like in sniper school.

Challenge: each participant will need to donate $100 to any of the listed sniper charities above, send a copy of your receipt to me for entry into the event, upon receipt you will receive the address/ directions to the private facility.

Range features:
Dedicated 100 yard zero range
600 yard steel range fixed and covered firing line (full size IPSC down to MOA targets on each line)
50 yard carbine pistol range (bring your replica carbines to shoot also)
Cabin with tables and chairs for classroom

I will be out of town for a week on vacation, but post questions/ comments here, I will answer next week when I get back.
Look forward to this and getting to see all the different M40s people have built.

Semper Fi

I vote for the 5th. It's my Bday and that seems like the most fun I could have. Great reason to bust out the A1 clone. I don't have an m16 clone though. Will any AR work? Round count?

Gonna be very close to overlapping with my Munich Oktoberfest trip which I am still planning with wife, but count me as a maybe.

i would be interested in this m40 shoot if i werent also going to Oktoberfest in Munich. what are the odds two dudes from Texas will be there at the same time? @RedBull6

hopefully can catch the next one. Texas is big, where about is this range located?

I can bring the mk12 along with the XM3 but that’s the only clones i have right now. Working on an m110 but it’s gonna take a year or more truthfully.

Been meaning to do a M40A5 as well since the RACS for the A6 is unobtainable. But then again the PMII isn’t exactly easy to find anymore.

Yes so currently considering any non M40 series rifles can shoot the match but will not be part of the score for prize, and I get run what you have however if I’m going to award anything based on the premise of the match being M40 based then you need a 40 to compete.

Still working on round count but looks like 60-75 rounds for just the match total. Does not include zeroing or data collection if you guys want to do that Friday. Zeroing will be available the morning of the match (have a dedicated lane for 100 yard zero) but no data collection the day of the match.

Updated 07/13/24

Changes: pretty unanimous for dates, round count # of stages.

Due to lack of participation we will only gather on Saturday we will zero and shoot the match stages. Only 3 people have participated in the fund raising, so more than disappointing.

Saturday Oct. 5- Match day with swap meet, chow, and fun shoot after.

Looking back the XM3 doesn’t fall under the category unfortunately since it’s a 700?

Vendors can come set up on Saturday also, please contact me to coordinate.

Also, not sure if people have enough equipment but we could also have a night vision shoot on Friday night, camping is also available on site, and hope to have a couple 30A power stations on site by then too. PM or comment here if you would be interested in a NV shoot?
Geez! I wish I was closer to TX or even in TX! This sounds like a blast!

There has been a date change from Oct to Nov 16 sorry for the change but with my work schedule I will not be able to make the original date happen, so bumping to NOV. I will send out emails to those that have already signed up, also hopefully this will make it so more can sign up.

Ok here are some updates or changes to the format, take note of the *DATE CHANGE*

This is to promote more people to come shoot and contribute to the fund raising for any ot the three charities USMC Scout Sniper Assoc., Recon Sniper foundation, or American snipers

Since this an M40 shoot top trophy will go to an M40 shooter, there will be other categories
Top usmc issued sniper rifle classified as any other clone correct such as Mk13, Mk22
Top semi auto clone M110s
Top SPR which would be the Mk12
And top DMR which would be the M14DMR in either the McMillan or EBR chassis, which my bet is on one of the McMillan stocked guns.

There are currently no prizes, just some rocks I will be painting like a true Marine as trophies 🤣🤪, just kidding I will make some nice trophies. Hit me up if anyone wants to donate to the cause for a prize table.

I will post the course of fire soon. It will follow standard USMC shooting skills and drills, you might need a sling for one of the stages or at least it might be beneficial.

Ok this has been reduced to a 1 day event since only 3 people (that I know of) have participated in the fund raising, which is more than disappointing.

We will have the match on Saturday Nov 16th from 9 am to completion, we will zero and shoot the match stages, so hit me up if you are actually going to show up and I will send you the range information. Send me an email at [email protected]

Just disappointed between my work and all the other things going on this just didn't work out, will try again in the spring. Thank you to those who donated to the charities it means a lot, and if you were thinking about it you can still donate. We had our 20 year reunion of my sniper platoon this past week, was good to see the boys.
