Powder unavailability

I just checked the American Reloading site for shits and giggles:

Primers = None
Rifle Powder = None
6.5mm Bullets = None

Great way to do business.......LOL

I wouldn't bother with any of these posts I just looked at their site seems everything is out of stock. If I were you I would use one of the established vendors like powder valley natchetz mid south brownells

American Reloading will send out an email and be sold out of powder in minutes.

I have purchased powder there several times in bulk. It’s almost like a game. I check the site a few times a week in the middle of the day.

When it’s in stock, it’s a great deal.

There is a local gunshop near by that always has a huge selection of powder. The prices change like the price of gas.

The thrill of the hunt is still fun.

Unfortunately My world view is quite pessimistic at the time. We have three major conflicts at the same time Ukraine is hot The middle east and Taiwan is simmering. We are facing an election which will determine the head of the Western alliances.
f a weak president comes out of November then the other two above will probably go hot. We don't have the money to support Ukraine much less take on Iran and China. Compared to all the tests we will face the Nitrocellulose shortage is a small problem. This will only get worse. So stockpile your gun powder while you can get it. And Pray.

Well allow ME to brighten your pessimism :) Did That help ?.

What people might well be concerned with is VOLCANISM . Only the arrogance and ignorance of mankind is great !.

Global warming climate change carbon taxation is all BAD SCIENCE !. Planet Earth is a relatively Young planet and evolution WON'T be denied . This planet has evolved over billions of years ( sorry all you religious zealots but Good science doesn't lie ) and is still evolving and will continue until going super nova . Dinosaurs and Ice ages disappear as do certain species and so shall mankind eventually .

Big question is WHEN ?. Well Lost Wages aka Las Vegas is open 24/7 so place your bets . As for Me and mine ,we're simply living on our spread and cruising along singing a song until SHTF .

I then will contribute My 30K rounds too the cause if I'm still able ,Ranger creed is instilled in My brain along with enlistment oath .

I, _____, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic . Now as of late I'm banking on those latter enemy collaborators !!!.(y)

Powders useful for 6.5 Creedmoor (Never heard of MP651), Small Rifle Primers for same, and any 6.5mm bullets. That's what I went looking for and found bupkis. Perhaps I should have been clearer, but whatever.....

Hmmmm, still shows 11 jugs of the MP powder available, and plenty of Ginex LR primers.....Maybe you went to the wrong website?

.........Or am I on the wrong website?

American Reloading's business model is to buy things like contract overruns so that they can pull them apart and sell the components in bulk. They have a large list of items on their website, but you'll generally only find in stock what they've worked on recently. They send out a blast e-mail most days and high-demand items usually sell out in minutes as stock levels are generally not super high to begin with. They are fantastic to work with, but if you are looking for very specific items, you will likely not find them in stock very often. If you are a deal shopper and you can use a moderate variety of things, you will find great deals somewhat frequently. That said, they primarily deal in blems (seconds) and pull-down components, so if you are adverse to those, you should just look elsewhere.

I enjoy a pissing contest as much the next guy and will respond anywhere At the risk of sounding like a hypocrite I would rather engage in the bear pit. Reloading is a serious business some people get hurt making the wrong move .
us kiddies should go to the bear pit. I don't see a way of simply transferring a contest there. I normally don't engage in contests But when someone throws turds at me I throw back.

Just ask a mod like @Rob01 To move your thread to the pit

I actually kind of enjoy the hunt for components. I've managed to get 3,000 large rifle primers over the course of this primer shortage just by clicking "notify me when available" on the Midway or Sportsman's Warehouse website and jumping on it as quickly as possible. It sucks to have to pay for Hazmat shipping, but whatever...

I have found alternatives to Varget for my .308 such as AA4064, and I'm happy with the results (AA4064 is readily available, IMR4064 is not). I also have a good stock of BL-C(2), which is great for heavy .308 loads despite what people say (and max loads come in at lower pressures), and AA2015 works well in both .45-70 and .308.

For handguns and subsonic rifle loads, I have a few pounds of Titegroup, also readily available for under $50/lb. That stuff is good for just about every handgun load and I really don't see a need to buy anything else for this purpose. That new CFE Pistol powder seems pretty good as well, with a similar burn rate and good availability/price. But I'm sticking with Titegroup because that's what I have.

One thing I've done is to cross-check Hornady's RLDC to see which bullets are both widely available and compatible with the widest variety of powders. I started with 178gr ELDX & 175 Sierra HPBT for my .308, but noticed that load data for the Sierra 168 HPBT gives me more options in the event that I run out of one or the other of my powders. So I'm standardizing on the 168 HPBT, a better choice for my short 16" .308 barrel anyway. And there's plenty of .308 pistol load data that works for my short barreled .308.

But anyway, just find a way to make it fun to look for alternatives is all I'm saying.
