Hey all,
I'm looking at a LPVO for my Ruger American Ranch in 5.56. I have a Burris RT-6 on my RAR in 7.62x39 and it's great. Anyway, PA has their GLx 1-6 on sale for $399. The problem is, I find the reticles on the GLx to be "busy". That being said, I haven't heard any negatives about the new Gen IV SLx 1-6 and the Nova reticle. So, is the older GLx model with the "busy" reticle (both the Raptor and Griffin) THAT much of a better scope, that it would still be a slam-dunk to buy at $399, or has the new gen of SLx kind of "caught up"? Or, just get another RT-6?

This is what I run on my Ruger Ranch in .300 BLK... Works awesome. Great glass for the price, and it's standard MIL stadia, so you can use it on something else later, if you want to, without being stuck with a 5.56 BDC reticle.

The nova is a beautiful reticle because the horizontal stadia are set for 18" target widths at different distances and those correspond to generic 5.56 drop.

The burris rt6 reticle looks like it doesn't do that.

Also consider the Delta Hornet 1-6x24. I prefer the reticle options over the RT6 and the turrets match the reticles (minor issue, but it always bugged me about the RT6). The Hornet and RT6 are made in the Philippines.

Aaaand I'm back in the market again! I have a Howa mini in .300bo on the way. Plan on SBR-ing it. I have the Burris RT-6, and a PA 1-6 nova and like them both. Anything else I should be looking at? Or are they still the best bet in the price range?

The RT-6 by Burris is by far the best optic in the sub $500 price point. Glass is good and durability and reliability is fantastic.

Burris has been selling these as fast as they can make them for three years now.

The new Vortex Venom is awesome for the price. The FOV is massive (126 ft at 1x) and unheard off for a cheap LPVO.

Glass is slightly below a Viper but still good and illumination is bright enough for most uses (but not fully daylight bright like a Razor 1-6).

All in all the package is hard to beat for the price unless you hate the reticle.

Yup and great priced on Expertvoice.

That said I let my curiosity get the best of me and ordered an Arken EP8 so will put them together and see how they compare when it comes in.

I just got a Steiner Predator 4 2.5-10x42 and compared it to my EP8 and 2 Bushnell Forges last night. The Predator 4 had the better eyebox, but damnit if the $300 EP8 didn't have the clearest glass.

I'm running a Sig Tango MSR 1-6 on a BRN-180, I dropped the rifle on a rock. It was hard enough to break the little handle on the power adjustment ring, the scope still held its zero. The glass is pretty good for the price range...

Welp, I went with the PST Gen2 1-6 MRAD. Natchez currently has 'em for $479 w/free shipping. If you send 'em a screenshot, eurooptic/scopelist will beat it. Instead, I bought it from a Hide member in the post exchange who matched the price. Given the chance, I'd rather support a hide member. ;)
